Recently the House Judiciary Committee passed HR 3892 that would declare the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO), something Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and even Syria have already done. This would allow the bill to come to the floor for a vote.
Even contemplating the passage of it gives the well-informed American a reason to hope that there still might be some sign of life left in the bodies of those occupying political office in Washington D.C. …On this day in 1969 the "Chicago Eight" plead not guilty to federal charges of conspiracy to incite a riot at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. However Bobby Searl was separated from the case when he refused to sit quietly in the court and after many interruptions and calling the judge names he was sentenced to 4 years in prison for contempt of court. He was the only one who did any prison time which was a huge mistake.

In yesterday’s referendum in the Netherlands, 64% of those who voted rejected the EU’s proposed closer economic and political relationship with Ukraine. Only 32% of eligible Dutch voters participated, but that was enough to make the referendum binding. Many analysts view the vote as a rejection of the EU, and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said he was saddened by the result.

Police in Norway did not like a man’s profile picture on Facebook because in it he appeared to be holding an automatic weapon. They paid a visit to his house in the middle of the night, but the weapon turned out to be a Softgun, a replica gun that shoots plastic pellets. A Softgun is legal for adults to possess in Norway, but the police confiscated this one anyway.

In other news, students at the University of Indiana became alarmed when they saw what they thought was a member of the Ku Klux Klan walking across campus dressed in a white KKK robe. A residence hall advisor sent out a warning email to all the students on his list about the apparent danger. However, it turned out that the man was in fact a priest dressed in liturgical garments. There’s no word on whether the frightening clergyman was apprehended and removed from campus so that students could feel safe again.
