Recently the House Judiciary Committee passed HR 3892 that would declare the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO), something Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and even Syria have already done. This would allow the bill to come to the floor for a vote.
Even contemplating the passage of it gives the well-informed American a reason to hope that there still might be some sign of life left in the bodies of those occupying political office in Washington D.C. The positives of passing this bill are innumerable, and the negatives are like finding someone without an opinion on Donald Trump…there simply are none.…

The European Commission announced that the EU will provide Tunisia with €250 million in aid during 2016. The money will be used to help reduce unemployment, and also to build and renovate health care centers throughout the country.
In other news, the president of Belarus has announced that government officials in his country will from now on drive Greely cars, which are made in China and assembled in Belarus. The new measure was adopted with an eye towards cost-containment. An exception will be made for the prime minister and other high government officials, who will continue to ride in European luxury cars.…

…On this day in 1969 the "Chicago Eight" plead not guilty to federal charges of conspiracy to incite a riot at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. However Bobby Searl was separated from the case when he refused to sit quietly in the court and after many interruptions and calling the judge names he was sentenced to 4 years in prison for contempt of court. He was the only one who did any prison time which was a huge mistake.

In yesterday’s referendum in the Netherlands, 64% of those who voted rejected the EU’s proposed closer economic and political relationship with Ukraine. Only 32% of eligible Dutch voters participated, but that was enough to make the referendum binding. Many analysts view the vote as a rejection of the EU, and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said he was saddened by the result.
In other news, the Austrian government is expecting the number of migrants landing in Italy to double in comparison to last year’s total, which would mean at least 300,000 new arrivals in 2016. If the pressure of immigrants at the border with Italy becomes unmanageable, Austria plans to close the Brenner Pass.…

…On this day in 1922 the Teapot Dome scandal occurred. The United States Secretary of the Interior leased Teapot Dome petroleum reserves in Wyoming to cronies through bribery. It was a tempest in the teapot as the secretary of the interior was convicted of leasing the oil fields to oil companies after getting bribes for lower rates. He went to jail. Police in Norway did not like a man’s profile picture on Facebook because in it he appeared to be holding an automatic weapon. They paid a visit to his house in the middle of the night, but the weapon turned out to be a Softgun, a replica gun that shoots plastic pellets. A Softgun is legal for adults to possess in Norway, but the police confiscated this one anyway.
In other news, students at the University of Indiana became alarmed when they saw what they thought was a member of the Ku Klux Klan walking across campus dressed in a white KKK robe. A residence hall advisor sent out a warning email to all the students on his list about the apparent danger. However, it turned out that the man was in fact a priest dressed in liturgical garments. There’s no word on whether the frightening clergyman was apprehended and removed from campus so that students could feel safe again.
