Political World
I've been annoyed for a few years now at the identification of American conservatives with the color red. The connection of particular colors to the two major US political parties was inconsistent prior to the late 1990s, though the parties had existed for well over a century by that time. As far back as the 1888 national elections, the Republicans were blue and the Democrats red. This was used off and on for most of the last century.
How wrong could [Martin Bashier] be? Let us count the ways: a: There isn't a flag on her bus, I only see red & white stripes. b: It isn't a campaign bus, it's their RV they used for the last couple of years, with a new paint job. c: The wavy stripes look very similar to the campaign bus that obama (who is not a muslim) used (to roll over grandma) d: Hmm, what about the clips of an actual American Flag waving in the opening to a series about Liberty used by MSNBC (which is a business advertising an upcoming segment)
You know the moment when you realize that fine, accomplished brother is with a White woman? Let's call it "the wince." Three-time Grammy Award-winning artist, writer, actress, philanthropist, mother and all-around Renaissance woman, Jill Scott gets to the root of our feelings on the matter in the April issue of ESSENCE... [It's only racism if Whate Fokes do it, huhh.]
Egypt Air, the largest airline in Egypt, has removed Israel from the map — literally. On its website, Ynet has learned, Jordan's land reaches the Mediterranean Sea. The airline's subsidiary, Air Sinai, flies to Israel regularly, but customers seeking flights to Ben Gurion National Airport will have a hard time finding them. On the map are the names of the Mideast capitals — Amman, Beirut, and Damascus — but Israel is nowhere to be found.
Some 300 people gathered in Times Square on Sunday to speak out against a planned congressional hearing on Muslim terrorism, criticizing it as xenophobic and saying that singling out Muslims, rather than extremists, is unfair. Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons and the imam who had led an effort to build an Islamic center near the World Trade Center site were among those who addressed the crowd.
Republicans' opposition to the climate change bill... [is] playing into the hands of the Iranian regime and the Saudi Arabian kingdom, Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) argued Friday. [WHAT AN EVIL MAN!]
The United States may have been behind the killing of Neda Agha-Soltan, the 26-year-old Iranian woman whose fatal videotaped shooting Saturday made her a symbol of opposition to the June 12 presidential election results, the country's ambassador to Mexico said Thursday. [The CIA should only be so clever! What a bunch of propaganda loons -- do even the stupidest, most brainwashed Iranians (or anyone else) really buy this nonsense?] In response, CIA spokesman George Little said, "Any suggestion that the CIA was responsible for the death of this young woman is wrong, absurd and offensive."...
Fidel Castro says President Barack Obama "misinterpreted" his brother Raul's remarks regarding the United States and bristled at the suggestion that Cuba should free political prisoners or cut taxes on dollars people send to the island.
Notes from CPAC, the national conservative conference, where this week youth has been served.
