A schoolboy in the central Italian town of Terni violently attacked a 12-year-old girl at school for wearing a crucifix on a chain around her neck. The Mohammed Coefficient of the incident is as yet undetermined. However, news reports state that the young attacker was “of African origin”.

The Republican Party of Palm Beach County in Florida has received a warning from the Joint Terrorism Task Force that one of its upcoming events is causing terrorist chatter on the Internet. The event in question is an appearance by Geert Wilders, who was invited to speak at the Lobsterfest fundraising dinner in August.

President Obama is going ahead with a summit of Persian Gulf countries, despite a boycott by several heads of state, including the king of Saudi Arabia. The missing Arab leaders are reportedly unhappy with Mr. Obama’s policy of appeasement towards Iran.
In other news, the European Union is considering using ground troops in Libya, in addition to air and naval forces, to prevent migrants from setting off across the Mediterranean towards Italy.

The Bangladeshi blogger Ananta Bijoy Das was confronted and hacked to death on the street by masked Muslim activists carrying machetes. It is thought that Mr. Das had aroused his assailants’ anger by his writings opposing religious fundamentalism and in favor of secularism.
In other news from South Asia, another powerful earthquake — this one having a magnitude of 7.3 on the Richter scale — struck Nepal, killings dozens of people and causing additional damage.

Macedonia has charged thirty people with terrorism offenses after last weekend’s attacks, which left eight policemen and fourteen terrorists dead. Experts warn that the country’s political stability is at stake, and may deteriorate to the point of civil war.

Police in the Macedonian town of Kumanovo engaged in protracted gun battle today with ethnic Albanian terrorists. Five policemen were killed and dozens more wounded. An undetermined number of terrorists were also killed.
In other news, a 17-year-old “Australian” “youth” was arrested in Melbourne for plotting to detonate three bombs. Police say they found explosive devices in the young man’s home. The incident had nothing to do with Islam.

The two deceased suspects in the Garland, Texas Motoon shooting have been identified as Elton Simpson, a.k.a. Abu Hussaini al-Britani, and Nadir Soofi. The two men were roommates in Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Simpson reportedly converted to Islam at an early age.
In other news, for the first time the Greek government has referred to “other national currencies” and not just euros as possible repayment currencies for its debt instruments.
