A man named Lakeem Keon Scott went on a shooting rampage in Bristol, Tennessee, killing a newspaper carrier and wounding three other people, including a police officer. The alleged shooter was shot by police and is now being treated in the hospital. He is said to have been angry over recent incidents where black men were shot by white police officers. The shooting may have been racially motivated.
Meanwhile, the killing of five police officers in Dallas last night is now thought to be the work of a single sniper, a former soldier named Micah Xavier Johnson.
In other news, in Valdosta, Georgia, an Asian man named Stephen Paul Beck put in a fake 911 call about a robbery in order to lure police into an ambush. He exchanged fire with responding officers, was wounded, and is now recovering in the hospital. A police officer was also wounded, and is being treated.…

…On this day in 1775 the Olive Branch Petition was signed by the Continental Congress of the Thirteen Colonies. The petition was intended to try to reconcile with the King of England and try to avoid the coming war. The King refused to accept the petition and had already declared the colonies "in rebellion". It did not help that a "private letter" by John Adams had been intercepted which indicated he was against the petition so the King did not consider the petition to be serious. The original petition had been written by Thomas Jefferson but was rejected because it was considered "too harsh".

Now that we’re the Banana Republic of America, I think it’s time for the #NeverTrump crowd to have a little “Come To Jesus” talk to determine whether they want Hillary the Untouchable, and her entire Leftist panoply of friends and goals, in the White House, or whether they’re willing to gamble on Trump, who at least gives lip service to a strong foreign policy that recognizes the problems with Islamists; supporting Israel; supporting the troops; supporting the Second Amendment; and supporting the pro-Life agenda.
This is not the time for holier (or “politically purer”) than thou. This is where the rubber meets the road. This is the time for imperfect emergency surgery to keep the patient alive, rather than an exquisitely rendered surgery while the patient bleeds out on the operating table.
