…On this day in 1804 the infamous duel occurred in which the Aaron Burr mortally wounded former Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton. At that time dueling was illegal but Burr managed to get the charges dropped. Burr was later charged with treason for his escapades on the frontier for which the evidence says he was guilty.
