…On this day in 1913 the Sixteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution was ratified, authorizing the Federal government to impose and collect an income tax. This also had the ultimate effect of shifting power permanently from the States to the federal government. When combined with the 14th amendment and a court full of nanny state leftest black robes the States no longer had any authority over anything that congress decided to get into. John Adams and the Federalists finally got what they wanted, an all powerful central government.
