…On this day in 1939 Adolf Hitler began the systematic euthanasia of mentally ill and disabled people. The order was actually signed on Oct 1939, but was back-dated to September 1 when they actually began the program. The program ran officially from September 1939 to August 1941, during which a recorded 70,273 people were killed at various extermination centers located at psychiatric hospitals in Germany and Austria, along with those in occupied Poland.…
