…On this day in 1882 Charles J. Guiteau was hanged in Washington, D.C. for the assassination of U.S. President James Garfield. Interesting man Mr Guiteau. His life was a litany of miserable failure and he was probably a mental case. He pleaded insanity as a defense but only during the shooting. In those days juries and courts were better.…
