…On this day in 1978 the all Democrat Congress with Jimmy Peanut passed the District of Columbia Voting Rights Amendment to the Constitution. This would have given the District of Columbia full representation in the United States Congress, full representation in the Electoral College system, and full participation in the process by which the Constitution is amended. The States saw through this blatant attempt by the Democrats to get two new Senators and some more Representatives. Most States refused to ratify it. It would have essentially made Washington DC a State in all but name.
