…On this day in 1780 Benedict Arnold turned traitor and gave the British the plans to West Point. He was mad because he had been passed over for a promotion and his wife who was in favor of the British heavily influenced him. After giving the British the plans he then joined them in leading raids on colonial towns and outposts, After the war he moved to England and was hailed a hero by King George. He briefly returned to Canada but was shunned there so he went back to England and subsequently died there. He was buried at a church in England but his grave was lost, so it is now unknown.
