Science and Government
For decades, the federal government has been telling people to cut fats and increase carbs in their diet, relying on supposedly settled nutrition science. A new study shows that the advice has been completely wrong.…
Most institutions demand unqualified faith; but the institution of science makes skepticism a virtue.

…The Francis Crick Institute says its gene-editing research has nothing to do with eugenics; even British law prohibits pregnancies from gene-edited embryos, and its researchers plan to destroy them after seven days. Instead, it aims to learn about the role of genes in miscarriage. But if its research improves gene-editing technology, less scrupulous scientists can make use of that. This is why scholars like Robert Pollack, a professor at Columbia University, want a moratorium on the whole process of modifying human genes.…
A Columbus attorney has announced that a 12-year-old Amish girl is cancer-free, despite courtroom testimony last year from doctors that she would be dead in six months without chemotherapy treatments. Maurice Thompson, the executive director for the libertarian nonprofit 1851 Center for Constitutional Law, said the girl, Sarah Hershberger, shows no signs of cancer and appears to be healthy.… In the wake of Sarah’s case, Thompson called on lawmakers to reform Ohio’s laws that grant judges the power to overrule parental decisions regarding their children’s health and well-being.…

Old One says: April 11, 2011 at 7:05 pm (Quote) What a piece of work. Sanger was truly a vile person. Margaret's eugenicists doctor acolytes in that progressive paradise of Minnesota forcibly aborted (she was told she suffered a miscarriage) & secretly sterilized the wife of my mother's cousin when she was hospitalzed for what was diagnosed as nervous disorders in the late 1930s. … Many doctors of that period had taken up Sanger's eugenics ideology & put them into practice. the lady lived a normal productive life, raised two adopted children but lamented until the day she died at age 90 not having her own children. It was only 50 years later that her adopted son learned she had been aborted & secretly sterilized while hospitalized. … Big Brother Obliara now tells us we should all love our elite intellectual betters and fund with taxpayer dollars our "betters" at Planned parethood. Not I say! … Margaret Mead was another sick academic puppy of the same progressive time & mentality and now their ideological descendants are back in power wreaking havoc upon us, our nation, & the world. We must not remain silent.
