…The San Bernardino, Calif. Sheriff’s Department late Thursday released the names of those who died Wednesday night when a heavily armed man and woman burst into the room where they were enjoying a county health department banquet and opened fire. The male gunman, Syed Farook, presumably knew at least some of those he mowed down since he worked for the same department. The New York Post even reported that colleagues there had thrown him a baby shower earlier this year.
The victims ranged in age from 26-60 and included eight men and six women.

It is somewhat mortifying that the idiocy of this is not immediately apparent to everyone. Did you catch it? Are you smarter than a Washington Post reporter? Do you know that “when human life begins” and “when an embryo implants in the uterine wall” are actually not synonymous statements? I bet you did. Or I bet you could figure that out pretty easily.
the linemen helped the driver out of his trapped seat while flames started to lap against his overturned truck. As soon as he was freed, the driver reached back in to rescue his 3-year-old daughter. That's when he told the linemen his pregnant wife was trapped inside the truck, and the boys sprang into action. First, the trio got additional help from two other bystanders -- an older man in a back brace and a woman in a military uniform -- and then coordinated a five-man lift to flip the truck over, all while the automobile's engine compartment was lapped by flames. ... We had to flip the truck over. It was just a midsize truck."

Rita Chretien, 56, was found alive on Friday by hunters near the Humboldt National Forest, in northeastern Nevada. Her husband Al Chretien is still missing. The couple vanished shortly after leaving their Penticton, B.C., home March 19. They were on their way to a trade show in Las Vegas, but didn't check into the hotel they had reserved. Rita survived 49 days in the wilderness on snow, a small amount of trail mix and prayer, said long-time family friend Dave Goertzen. She lost about 30 pounds and they're working on balancing her electrolytes at a hospital in Twin Falls, Idaho
