A 19-year-old Turkish woman has been shot in the head to punish her for participating in a talent show. She is now in the hospital, in critical condition. The victim had reportedly received death threats, and her family objected to her participation in the contest. A man has been arrested in connection with the shooting.
In other news, several EU countries have come out in opposition to Brussels’ plan for mandatory migrant quotas for member states. Among the opponents are Britain, France, Denmark, Finland, and Spain.

Shi’ite militias are mustering in the area around Ramadi in the al-Anbar province of Iraq. Mujahideen for the Islamic State overran Ramadi yesterday, and the Shi’ites reportedly aim to take the city back.
In other news, 190 or so motorcycle gang members are facing charges in the biker gang shootout in Waco, Texas, which involved five different gangs and left nine people dead.

In other news, a few days after a fierce battle between police and KLA terrorists in the Macedonian town of Kumanovo, thousands of demonstrators marched in the capital, Skopje. The protesters were supporters of the opposition, and demanded the resignation of the current government.

Abu Sayyaf, a senior commander for the Islamic State, was reportedly killed by U.S. special forces in Iraq. The commandos who killed Mr. Sayyaf were attempting to capture him, but he resisted. His wife, known as Umm Sayyaf, was captured and is said to be in Iraqi military detention.
In other news, former Egyptian President and Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohamed Morsi has been sentenced to death for his role in a 2011 jailbreak during the “Arab Spring”.

President Obama is going ahead with a summit of Persian Gulf countries, despite a boycott by several heads of state, including the king of Saudi Arabia. The missing Arab leaders are reportedly unhappy with Mr. Obama’s policy of appeasement towards Iran.
In other news, the European Union is considering using ground troops in Libya, in addition to air and naval forces, to prevent migrants from setting off across the Mediterranean towards Italy.

The Bangladeshi blogger Ananta Bijoy Das was confronted and hacked to death on the street by masked Muslim activists carrying machetes. It is thought that Mr. Das had aroused his assailants’ anger by his writings opposing religious fundamentalism and in favor of secularism.

Macedonia has charged thirty people with terrorism offenses after last weekend’s attacks, which left eight policemen and fourteen terrorists dead. Experts warn that the country’s political stability is at stake, and may deteriorate to the point of civil war.
In other news, the European Union is planning to implement a policy of mandatory refugee quotas for member states in order to reduce some of the migration burden on Italy. Meanwhile, the European high representative for foreign policy, Federica Mogherini, says that no migrant will be forcibly repatriated against his will.
