In Greensboro, EPA-funded contractors grading a toxic 19th-century cotton mill site struck a water main, sending the deadly sediment into a nearby creek. “In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American…There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag… We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language… and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.”

“I proceeded to let the dad know I didn’t appreciate what he said in no uncertain terms, but I did it so I wouldn’t scare the child,” he said, adding that the father’s assertion is the opposite of what he wants children, especially young children, to take away from an encounter with law enforcement.

"I pleaded with him for a while to come down and sit on the steps, and eventually he did. We sat on the sidewalk on the south side of the Liffey and talked for about 45 minutes, about what was happening to him, why was he feeling that way..."

…Josh and his fellow workers begin every day in the railroad yard across the street from Leonard’s run-down home in Pendleton, Oregon.

One day last month, Josh overhead some kids making rude remarks about how the house should just “be burned down” because it was in such bad shape. Leonard overhead them, too, and looked visibly hurt.

Determined to erase that hurt with something positive, Josh asked a few fellow railroaders to help out.… Worried he wouldn’t have enough helping hands with only a week’s notice, Josh posted his plea on Facebook. “The post blew up like wildfire,” and was shared more than 6,000 times.

Perhaps to the casual observer President Obama appears cool and in control – confident of his positions and the success of his “diplomacy.” But it doesn’t take an advanced degree in psychology to figure out that he’s worried – really, really worried – about what’s going to happen at the end of the day, when Congress votes on the Iran deal, and votes again after he vetoes the Congressional rejection of the accord.

Janae Marie [Matt "Kroc" Kroczaleski] — the champion powerlifter who just came out as transgender — says she's he's still deciding whether she'll he'll continue to compete as a man or as a [man pretending to be a] woman ... because she's concerned about the backlash. ...

Pronouns and name corrected for accuracy. Now let go of my neck. Backlash? Over a man pretending to be a woman competing against women? In powerlifting!?? Can they remove all your Y chromosomes retroactively to birth?

Film is dead

[Alex Winter (Bill S. Preston, Esquire):] "The fun thing about them is that they’re ageless. You play them in terms of who they are spiritually. Their mannerism and physicality are not tied to age. We played them like 9-year-old kids. They still have that quality. The comic potential of that becomes even better as it becomes more discordant. It will be funnier because they’re older."

Researchers created the lightweight, leaping robot after studying how pond-skimmer insects push off the water’s surface without sinking. …

Wait, weren't there little (non-robotic) water-skimming toys of similar design, years ago? Or am I having false childhood memories?

US Military

…“She said, ‘You’re in the military?’ I said, ‘Yes,’ …She said, ‘I can’t serve you.’ … I asked, ‘Are you serious?’ She looked at me like she was offended…”

There is a claim she just "couldn't read" his military ID. FWIW.

…And so it goes that commander-in-chief Barack Obama can once again lay claim to having achieved something that no previous president has — gapped the Persian Gulf of an American CVBG. Of course lots of folks will say what difference at this point does it make? It’s simple. We will not have a platform by which we can launch strikes against ISIS — not that they’ve been overly effective anyway, since we don’t have G-FACs (Ground Forward Air Controllers).…

…Ladies and gents, resulting from the text message I received yesterday, I can confirm that the United States Navy is bringing charges against Lt. Cmdr Timothy White for illegally discharging a firearm on federal property. … What kind of freaking idiots are in charge of our Armed Forces — pardon me, our “unArmed Forces”? What would they prefer that Abdulazeez had been able to kill all the Marines and Sailors at the Naval Support Reserve Center? …

Defending Ourselves

…At a time when our borders are unsecured, at a time when we have sanctuary cities providing free operating zones for criminal illegal immigrants being released by our government, at a time when we have the domestic threat of militant Islamic jihadists and at a time when we are decimating our U.S. military capacity and capability, we must reject the notion of making America defenseless.

President Obama and the liberal progressive left must never forget the reason why Americans stood at Lexington Green and Concord Bridge. A tyrant wanted gun control – the answer was the “shot heard ‘round the world.”…

"Four guys came over to confront me about it, and I happened to be armed, so that changed their minds…"

Governing Ourselves

…A Texas farmer finally received land back that was taken from him by a court and given to the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) more than thirty years ago. The victory puts land back into his undisputed possession and control that has been in his family since 1904. It also brings hope and a pathway to victory for other farmers who stand to lose up to 90,000 acres of land to the BLM.…

Breitbart is Here

Mitch McConnell is a disgrace and a sell out… but then again so is John Boehner. At least Harry Reid and Pelosi didn’t pretend to be conservative. The Republican leadership passes EVERYTHING Obama wants.

And when Ted Cruz calls out the lies— as usual, the progressive GOP RINOs attack Ted… as they do with ALL conservative members. They are annoyed that they just can’t annoit Jeb Bush and be done with it. …
