Hello, dead thread.
I joked, "ALWAYS four-digit years, whatever the format - no more Y2Ks! "
Multitudes of computer files with dates in the filenames. To sort chronologically requires the date to be yyyy-mm-dd. Cannot write dates any other way anymore.
My 2¢ worth.
To some extent, later versions of Windows are supposed to be auto-defragging. Don't know how well I'd say that works.
Can't help you out. One thing about Pete's computer. His repair guy said he took out infected virus ware and put in Avast. That's what I use, and it seems to be highly recommended.
Adobe flashplayer has crashed, plugins have stopped working…
When all else fails, reboot!
“…no idea what you’re talking about.”
Oops. Used square-brackets instead of angled in my previous comment. If anyone with the Power wants to change 'em, go ahead.
andycanuck: That's weird. Aren't those supposed to start with instead of #? I usually don't do the number bits, but use things like hellip; ( … ).
Gran, thanks always for the birthdays.
Wash your text through this webpage and it should replace the high characters with Pixy-acceptable html; codes.

Computing: It's not for the timid. You say, "It took me a long time and a lot of trial and error to learn how to post graphics in the reply section." No kidding.
I wandered off to the book thread.
Thanks to the horde mind for computer discussion. Helps.
freaked: "maybe a nice desktop for the video work. You will get more bang for your buck with a desktop and it will probably last longer. Plus you can get a really big monitor."
freaked: "Are you looking for just a tablet or a real laptop/tablet?"
I'd like … a big screen, full keyboard, high-end laptop to do HQ video production.
So, I have a bit of cash burning a hole in my pocket, and I've been thinking of upgrading to this millennium. Asus tablet / laptop - any knowledge or experience with it out there in horde-land?

Why don't they make a microwave with programmable ringtones? Why do we have to live in the beeping last millennium?
I do not even know how I ended up here, but I thought this post
I laughed heartily at the fisherman tumbling into the drink. "Into the drink?" Hey, that's a metaphorical two-fer or something. Zen points!
Want feeling miserable enough, I checked to see what drudge thought was newsworthy.

I have an external (bluetooth) keyboard on the cell which seems to be stuttering minimally today.
Morning Glories! I sure had a great comment composed that got wiped out by a phone call. Cells suck. Mine does, anyway.
are we dissecting Windows, Gates, or both?
I don't know if mindfull webworker is reading the ONT tonight but if you are, that French spam you got in your email was even spammier than you think.
FTR, my desktop is protected by Avast (free version), with regular checkups by SpyBot, and if I think there's something they didn't catch, MalwareBytes.
1. Tediously highlight link in comment.
2. Select text and copy.
3. Open new tab.
4. Click-hold on address bar.
5. Hit copy by mistake instead of paste.
Oh, looky! A French spam comment leaked through the filters on one of my webpages. At least I presume it's spam.
