Planting Placentas to Form a Bond With the Earth

"There's actually some folk tradition about homes and planting placentas to form a bond with the earth."

Okay. When daughter was born, at home, we wrapped up the placenta and stuck it in the freezer. Thinking, soon, we'll move out of the apartment and into a house and we'll plant a tree with this as fertilizer. Or something. I dunno. We were nuts; we'd just had a kid.

Years pass. Our twin boys are born. In a hospital. Where placentas were disposed of properly. But, eventually, we found the first one in the back of the freezer. Since we were still at the apartment, we planted a blue spruce with that placenta in honor of all three having been born while we lived there.

We moved out, sold the building. Tree grew up, 'way too big for the yard. New owners did the right thing and removed the tree.

Oh, well. Everything passes.
