Infinite theological loop?

Doesn't that set up a kind of infinite theological loop? Would one be perpetually giving birth to oneself, an image akin to the snake devouring its tail only worse?
"Too many people want to be their own God or Goddess...." I read that this goes back a ways to this one-time "angel" who had a similar bumper sticker.
