In the 2009 ice storm

I've had to go weeks without a shower. It's tedious, but you can get clean at a sink.

One of my heroes: Spiegleman's Dad in Maus, in the concentration camps, had access to a freezing stream where he bathed daily. His fellow prisoners derided him that he would die of the cold, but it kept him relatively pestilence-free(r). Been a long time, I need to re-read Maus. But every day I had to clean myself at a sink, luxuriant with hot water, I thought of him in that icy stream.

Morning, Glories.

In the 2009 ice storm, I had no "official" electricity for a week. I had a generator to keep the geothermal running so I would not lose the wells or have my pipes freeze. I have a gas range and I heated water on it and bathed in the kitchen--even washed my hair. No pictures are available. I distinctly remember feeling blessed to have clean water to heat and a fairly warm house.
