Data Storage On Ordinary Analogue Audio Cassette

qdpsteve #428: ...how 'bout those cassette tape drives back in the day? :-P

I remember my amazement, the first time I actually saved and retrieved a program to that ordinary analogue audio cassette! (I had seen punch cards and used punched-hole paper tape storage at college, so cassette seemed so... accessible, or something.)

Hard lessons in early program and data storage: the longer-length cassettes could hold more data, buuuut have thinner tape, easier to stretch and lose everything.
