Tim in Illinois: ...Yes we can see your posts. Those of us that are awake that is....

Heh. Thanks, Tim. The mind craves reassurance even when logic informs us reassurance is unnecessary.

Recently sent an email to a person I knew mainly by the online pseudonym, got back a reply that was a series of question marks. Turns out she was sending emojis which my email reader didn't recognize. Thought I had emailed the wrong person or something. Online life can sometimes be almost as confusing as face-to-face!!

Headless Body of Agnew: ...infield fly rule. I tried to explain this to a foreign national and they looked at me like I was demented....

I grew up listening to Cards baseball on the radio, thanks to Dad. A good radio announcer can make you feel like you're there, and like you know what's going on. Do they still have those?

Someone say "Hi, Mindful," so I don't feel like I'm the only one who can see my messages!

Kidding. I've been online-talking since before the Net was a thing, so I know how the flow goes.

Self-plugola department: If you click on my nic, you'll pull up the latest fanciful Mindful Webworkshop weekly video, which is not the best, but is the latest.

But if you wait for next week's, uploading Friday, or late Thursday, technology permitting, you'll find my pre-election edition, which will be (maybe) the best Webworkshop yet, marred only by my indulging in three anachronistic political ditties of mine from the 70's & 80's. Tell all your friends and enemies, spread thickly on social media, et cetera.

We now return you to your advertisement-free exchange.

Man, I hate it so much when that (or the like) happens, I managed to not be so drunk again for... mumbledy years now.

Not tonight, you haggard old harridan! Go back to your satanic altar and guzzle some more schappes.

With all due respect...

I heard there was some sort of sports event tonight. Know anything about it?

Just kiddin', o'course. I'm only an adopted Chicagoan, but I lived there 14 years with milady, native-Chicagoan, and all three of our offspring were born there. So, some interest in the game. Heh.

And for boring old baseball, Wow! All the way to extra innings on the 7th game! Wish I could've seen the last game. Followed it on texts from our daughter.

I also heard there was some sort of political event coming up. Know anything about it?

Hidey Hoo! Jumping right in as if I knew what was going on...

...I made meatloaf for a second time, and it wasn't bad....

Local restaurant, for which daughter waitresses, is dropping their meatloaf from the menu. Dang! Big slab of bacon-wrapped Oklahoma beef loaf, with a side of delicious mashed potatoes and spinach. Hard to beat for the comfort-food category.

Finich what you start (toon):

Milady makes a great meatloaf, but we could sometimes get the restaurant plate for le cheap. Well, we will learn to overcome this first-world difficulty.

What th...? Try #2 to say good-night:

A) You know, it's really going to suck if Hillary "wins."

B) Good night, Gracies.

Speaking of low expectations, I'll just take a moment to annoy the 2.7 folks still reading at this hour, by plugging Mindful Webworkshop #12, weekly video production which this week features some gray-haired old phart croaking a couple of his dumb songs while beating up on the 88's, but best (such as it is) of all has a Hallowe'en-ish shaggy Gothic horror "motion comic" (a/k/a not very animated cartoon). Alert your friends, tell your enemies. Linked in nic below.

Okay, did that.

Quick quiz of the early-a.m. crowd: Do you spell Hallowe'en with an apostrophe? (Zappa crux of the biscuit answers count extra points.)

Heh.

OregonMuse #108: ...And speaking of long, weird stories, whatever happened to "mindful webworker"? Did he get banned, or just disappear?

There I was, lounging in bed, thinking I really ought to get up and feed the pets, when suddenly my ears were burning - as if someone, somewhere, was talking about me. Spooky, eh?

Not banned. Just been busy. Among other sorta-real-life activities, doing a weekly video turned out to be much more time-consuming that I anticipated.

Not-quite-bookish Hallowe'en note:

I did an old shaggy Gothic horror comic called The Beast with Four Heads which I "motion-ized" (not quite animated) in the latest video episode, "Party Time."

If you don't want to sit through the rest of it, you can skip to about 10:45 in the video.

Might not be the first time I've done something like that.

Searching on "cereal pinbacks" - I gather they're just pins that came in a cereal? (Lest anyone be confused: pins like badges you pin on your shirt, not pins like as used in sewing.)

For all its merits... Hoppy's TV series had the worst theme song evah. :D

Been several weeks since I've been here while the thread is still warm. Always enjoy it, even if I had to read it cold.

In the Unhappy News department...

Three - or is it four now? - weeks ago, we took our faithful dog to the vet for a bloody anus. Conversation included the words colonscopy and chemotherapy (at some animal hospital in The City), and the phrases making him comfortable and quality of life.

We don't really have the wealth to do extraordinary work on the old guy - we can only pray. We have changed his diet to be more "passable." (Pumpkin? Who knew?) He seems to be doing a little better.

On top of that, he broke one of his proud perky ears, and now it's floppy all the time. Again, this can be surgically fixed, and not too expensively by our local vet, but we're still debating doing that. Makes him look sad all the time.

How Gimli came to live with us, and a link to a photo, from back on the Inaugural Ace of Spades Pet Thread:

Necco wafers were okay - except the licorice ones.

Is it still PC-OK to say "Necco"?

P.S. Hi!
