Pet thread! Pet thread! Yay!
I didn't read last week's thread until days later. Glad to be here while it's "live."
I mentioned several weeks back that our good ol' doggeh Gimli had bleeding from the anus. He was acting, not like he was in pain, but kind-of miserable and slow.
Vet was talking about colonoscopy, chemo, and "making him comfortable" - we weren't going to go the $$$ route for the old guy, though.
Vet suggested dietary changes to make passing poop easier - cut out the dry food, add pumpkin (!?!) to his food. We did that, plus adding coconut oil and diatomacious earth (good for parasites, I think Milady said), and Milady even gave him some homeopathic remedy. (Laugh if you like, we've had some apparent successes with homeopathics for pets.)
On top of the troubles at the back end, he also broke his left ear, ended up all floppy, giving him an all-the-time half-sad look. Vet said they could sort-of fix that.
I told Gimli, if he'd quit bleeding, we'd get the surgery to repair his ear.
Well, it's been a couple of weeks now since we've seen any blood. Wasn't really cancer? Was, but is in remission? Something worse has been internalized and he's about to keel over any day?
I don't know, but he's become much perkier, running, jumping into the car, doing his happy dance at meal time again. We're cautiously hopeful.
Now I may have to actually splurge on the ear repair surgery. Cosmetic, but I'd do it happily if he's well.
PS The cats found out about the pumpkin-coconut oil addition to the dog's food and a couple of them have been demanding their own, too. Weird.
Me: Dad's birthday.
Cthu: ...He lives on in memory. Thank you for sharing, so he can live a bit more with us....
I have talked about him before on here. He was Republican National Committeeman from Oklahoma. Helped turn the state around from Dem to GOP, and rated a full chapter in the autobio of our first Republican governor, Henry Bellmon. (A good read. Look for it.)
I have much-prized photos of Dad & Mom at the GOP conventions, with Ike & Mamie, Dick & Pat. My brother wrote Dick about him, and received a signed copy of one of Dick's books, with the note that Dick was sorry my dad didn't live to see "our victory" in 1968. (I have thought, "if he had, your resignation would've killed him.")
Dad was very proud of helping lead the state GOP from the kind of RINO bunch we see at the Fed level to a real and winning party. Okla now the only state (I think) that every county goes GOP every 4 years.
It's knowing that history that kept me from despairing about the nation, and hoping we could turn things around. I'll admit I was quite surprised that the turn should come in the form of DJ Trump, but it continues to be a pleasant surprise.
It is daily astonishing to realize that after eight years of Obamanation, instead of a Hillary, we have an administration that - in a little over a month since the election, and with a month still to go to the inauguration - has begun to seriously transform our federal government. Or, at least, make the wienies boo-hoo.
I do wish I could be talking this all over with my Dad. But with his smoking, drinking, and bad prescriptions, if he'd lived he'd still be dead today. Funny boot that.
Annnd, with that long ramble, I think I'll go apply some toothpaste to toothbrush and power down shortly.
cthulhu #578: ...The old 78's... actually had emery grit mixed into 'em, so they'd sharpen the phonograph needle as they played. You needed to play a couple of records to settle-in a needle, then rotate it every once in a while so it didn't get V-shaped with flat faces.
Wow. That's a new one to me. We were worried about needles damaging LPs. Sounds like 78s wore out needles.
I have a lot of 78s stacked up and a USB phonograph that will run at 78rpm and have thought about trying to transfer them. Maybe I should be worried about the needle getting ground down?
Up to #550. Someone said cm9000's pseudo-concern trolling is too realistic. It is. I have to keep reminding myself he's not joking.

It's the 17th now. Dad's birthday. Born Dec 17, 1917. He'd've been 99 today. He only made it to a month past 50, long time ago. Never really got to know him as an adult. Miss you, Dad.
Going back 'n' forth reading earlier comments & current. Fortunately, current isn't going so fast. I'm up to 400.
Watched Yoga Hosers tonight. Having done so, I'm not sure why. But now I just want to keep saying "sorry 'boot that." Eh? It's as if someone said, what would a movie be like if it was done by Canadians? ![]()
Hello again, Hordelings.
High in the 50s today, currently still 45 with fog. A beautiful autumnal evening, moonlight, stars.

I wrote Santa that I need a new desktop capable of doing good audio and video editing and production, with a good-size flat screen (or two), speakers, keyboard, mouse, headphones, battery backup, lots of hard drive space, an ergonomic desk and chair, good lighting and microphonage, and space to put it all. And time to work on videos.
Or a pony.

I don't know basically anyone in that Karpool Carioke video, but they looked like they were having fun.
Jingly bells, y'all!!
Darn. I almost got a morning comment in before Ace.
Maybe tomorrow
Boy, I sure hope this teleporter works. I bought it used from some weirdos calling themselves the Thermians...

BBBAZZZZZZZPPPPPTHHHSHS KERBLOOOOSH!!
Just checked the forecast. It's been pretty chilly lately, so glad to see it's 36° ("feels like 28°") which is as cold as it will be tonight.
Tomorrow, a sweltering 55°. Ah, those lovely winds out of the South!
Then, the wind turns. Saturday, 34° high, 5° low with 74% chance of snow. Just in time for the weekend trip to daughter's ballet.
Then sub-freezing all the way to Tuesday, when it's back to temperatures in the 40s and sunny.
OooooooOH-klahoma! North wind? Montana. South wind? Louisiana. West wind? Tornadoes and dust.
Back again before engaging the transporter.
Palpatine #527: ...my angel... grabbed me one day and popped my upper back. ... Sounded like a bomb going off.
Heh. I expected our doc (a if not the top NUCCA guy) to do something painful, and I felt this gentle press on my neck, a little tiny "click" and he said he was done. I teased that he had one of those old Halloween clickers concealed in his hand.
Funny thing. After a car wreck in '78, I went in for a full check-up and the doc measured my legs and said, "you're a half-inch shorter on the right side than on the left. Has nothing to do with the wreck - you've been that way all your life." Recommended putting a #something insert in my shoe.
Some twenty years later, when I went to the NUCCA doc, he said, exactly the same, "You're a half-inch shorter etc." and then he said, "We can fix that." And by the time I walked out of his office, he had. A myriad of problems I never thought much about - and would never have thought were interconnected - went away as well.
I did feel like I was listing to one side that afternoon until I got used to having both legs the same length for the first time in decades.
I took a cousin to him - she was severely out of whack. I was across the room when he adjusted her, and it really sounded like a gunshot.
Ah, dinner is served, wine is uncorked, and videos are cued up. BBL. Or not.
slapweasel, you still around? Did I get it right that you hurt in the neck? Milady and I had very good luck with longstanding problems after going to a NUCCA chiropractor. Gentle press on the neck to adjust the upper cervical "Atlas" bone into place and stop it pressing on that main nerve going from brain to body - not the twist-and-grind usual chiropractor, which method I tried once and never would again. If it's what's wrong, it works.
Remember: You can always trust legal, medical, financial, and dating advice you get from blog commenters.
On the rare occasions when snow is a problem at Rancho Webworker, we just stock up beforehand and wait - never hangs around long in Oklahoma.
However, if it does hang around, our neighbor's son-in-law come by with the big tractor with the blade and scrapes off our driveway after doing his Dad-in-Law's. Handy.
Thread moving fast again, I see. Try to take a few moments to interact with Milady and get 100 comments behind.
I notice I got #333. Is that half-credit?
Normally I'm saying, don't feed the trolls, don't quote 'em back. But, funny thing, I didn't see the original posts so my curiosity is only satisfied by the the quotebacks. It's socks of one and half a shovel of another, I guess.
