Soothsayer Pro Elite #350: Perhaps tonight I will watch the 1959 version of The Hound of The Baskervilles starring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, and Brian Dennehy.

Hey, that sounds good. I wonder if I have that in the catacombs of media collection? (Probably on VHS, with my luck.)

Dennehy played... the moors?

OM: ...On the other hand, for all the talk of 2016 being a bad year, consider...

That's a pretty good list.

Sounds like the three Sowell books together would serve as a master course in economics. I'd like to read them all. Attention surfeit disorder notwithstanding.

Happy New Year, OM, and all the books at sea.

I want an app and interface where I can just close my eyes, lie in bed, and read and write comments on AoS.

Well, come to think of it, maybe not. Sometimes after blog-reading while groggy (groggy bloggin'), I'm doing this in my dreams and, while the comments of others are only mildly weirder than usual, my comments... just get messed up, longer and longer, rambling meaninglessly, pointlessly taking up more and more... um... uh...

So, another big Happy Year to everyone, and I'm going to quit. My Christmas Webworkshop video is linked in my nic ICYMI. Features my first wrap song. Feel free to leave comments or donate cash.

Looking at the newcomers, it occurs to me that I ought to again recommend my unauthorized, unofficial Ace of Spades Blog Commenters Survival Guide, which has a stack of updates I've still not yet included, but will surely get around to before this year is over.

"...technical tricks and techniques that are handy, and sometimes necessary, to know, in order to fully enjoy the experience."

Okay, I made it up to comment #250, but I don't think I'll be able to make it through the next 1000 or whatever. I may skip and read to the end, or just close down for the night, but first:

Miley, the Duchess: Prayers for his peace, and that of you and his loved ones.

Chi: Done, MWW. And yes, Fuck cancer.
(Ain't ready to talk about it yet...)

Especially Brother Cavil #200: Prayers up, mindful. (I'm not so strained I can't return prayers for others!)

tbodie #211: And mindful web worker: prayere for your brother, you and your family.

(Hope I closed all those italicans correctly!)

Thanks, all, and any I missed. Means a lot.

Libertarianwannabe #103 So sorry to hear, webworker. Just very sorry. Peace and strength.

Thanks ... um... LWB? (Lib? Wannabe?) Life is hard and short, but has its wonders. My brother showed me many of the wonders.

And, welcome to the manic club that is AoS commenters. You seem to have just fit right in. Wanning to be libertarian small-L or Libertarian kook candidates?

Looks like Pixy is about 5 minutes off on the comments clock.

Now, how many weeks before you quit writing "2016" on checks and the like?

Well...

Little sister called tonight. Our oldest brother (73) has bad cancer, among other problems -- mostly medical but apparently some doctor-aggravated -- with possibly just weeks to live, if that. He had problems at Thanksgiving (I didn't notice, sister did) but he hadn't known the extent of them.

Sister is flying in tomorrow to drive Mom (96) up to Kansas to see him. I won't be going, because I have raging contagious flu.

Brother has had a long and interesting life, not always easy, including being one of the earliest polio victims cured. He just announced at Thanksgiving that he and his long-time girlfriend were married. That announcement has a different color now, of course.

A prayer for his peace, and also for our mother's, would not be unwelcome.

And, yes, cancer sucks.

Milady and I are going to sip some wine, watch some old fogie movies, and not think about the bodiless head of Dick Clark in a bell jar, dropping in Times Square - or was that a Futurama episode?

BBL8R or maybe next year.

Been nice to get to hang out live on the Pet Thread again. Another plus for 2016: AoS Pet Threads.

Off to do "things." Later, yawl.

FenelonSpoke #180: Thanks, MindfullWebworker. I thought that was very clever. (I liked "Christmas rap a lot). You are such a regal looking older man (Is it o.k. to say that?) that I think you should probably be performing in "King Lear" and not in a Santa hat. ;^)

Mary Christmas and Happy New Year to You and Yours, have missed seeing you here. Are you o.k.?

Glad you liked the Wrap. That was... fun to do.

Regal looking... is... not something I've ever heard before. Nor anything I would have expected. That wasn't one of your infamous typos, perhaps? haha I do mean to regale!

Have not been entirely okay, thanks for asking.. Been busy, with the videos, but mostly other matters. Christmas season got even busier. Then, Christmas morning, I woke up with a cold, a gift from my daughter (cold, flu, whatever it is), from which I'm still recovering. Finally, this morning, I woke up feeling pretty good, popped out of bed, and first thing I hear Milady say is, "I think now I'm sick." Oh noooes! I may still be mostly-lurking for weeks to come, for many reasons.

BACK ON TOPIC

Gimli dog knows how to nuzzle (with his muzzle) the door open from the outside if it's a bit ajar. A little while ago, his pal Spark the Gray Cat was standing inside, looking out. Before I could get to the door, Dog came over, opened the door for the cat, and walked away. He does this a lot, getting the door open for the cats. (Or getting us to open it for them.)

Closing the door, we're still working on that.

FenelonSpoke #113: Can you please post your website site again-(without the strike outs :^)- so that I can come visit it?

Hi, FS! Belated Merry Christmas joy to you & yours.

You know, if you copy-and-paste something that's striked-out (strike-outed?) it'll paste like normal text. If you can make out the link part, that is, to copy.

Since it's still in the 12 Days, you can still catch my Christmas Webworkshop video, including my mortifyingly embarrassing proudest work, "Christmas Wrap." Linked in nic (my website) or at YouTube

Hello! Merry Christmas, belatedly, and Happy 2017, imminently.

I might've snagged #1, but, just as I got to the pet thread, my little yellow fuzzy buddy Charlie came meowing at the front door to be let in.

Instead, I went out and sat down in a chair to enjoy the stillness and sunny warm-ishness. Charlie curled up in my lap and thus I was temporarily catalaptic, as we say.

I like warm days. Less wear & tear on the catboxes.

Last week's Pet Thread had a question about buying Christmas gifts for pets. Whoever had the dogs that knew their stockings - that was really cool.

We don't usually make a deal of it, but this year Milady bought Gimli the dog his own blanket, fuzzy with dog bone pattern. He seemed to realize it was his own and took to it right away.

He's had his own old ratty wool army blanket for a long time, so that may have helped with possession-recognition.

Gimli's still doing well, by the way; still no recurrence of the bleeding anus problem, whatever it was. Amen.

Milady and I are both at some stage of flu-ishness, but the pets all seem to be doing well; that's the important part.

So, pet people, happy seven swans a-swimming day.
