Follow-up on earlier mention of kitteh Spark being out 'til 5am in the single-digit weather... we do have several of those "igloo" houses on the front porch, with warm snuggly material inside. Spark is the only one of the (still with us) cats I've ever actually seen emerge from one, but at least I know he knows to use 'em.

Howdy, critter lovers!
Temperatures were in the single digits last night.
At 5:00am, I was awakened by a loud meowing. Not unusual, but this was from outside! I was on my feet heading for the door before I was hardly awake.
Poor old gray kitteh Spark had been out all night. Didn't seem any worse for the wear - he's pretty hardy. (He's the one who thinks and acts more like a dog.) But I notice he's happily curled up asleep most of the morning.
Milady was the last to bed, and she said, some of her last thoughts were a mental count of critters, but it was late, she's still recovering from the flu and had a long day.
Anyway at least Spark knows how to meow loudly if he wants in!
Remind me sometime to tell you the story about my neighbor. Punch line is, "Fine, we'll just do it that way."

But somehow reminds me... when I was a kid nearly too young to play with matches, I fished a cig butt out of an ashtray, lit it up and took a hit. One of my mom's Newport Menthols.
That was enough for me. Never took to tobac.
Cold. Gonna stay that wall all through tomorrow. I think I'll crawl under the covers 'til Saturday.

I pretty much always hesitate when I get the green, until I'm sure cross traffic is really stopping. I'm old, but I'd like to keep getting older.
