Man, I dunno, DDR, I think you did it all wrong. I mean, usually, I read Maet's lead, but mostly dive for the comments, as per the guidebook. I forgot that with yours, it just keeps going and going… Then after the pretty pictures, I couldn't remember what it was all about, something about hamburger buns, and I had to go read it again!

The Young Fat burns off fast. The Old Fat takes longer to get to. Just keep hoisting that chicken feed.

Ooo, I can almost smell the barns.

Ting: “I have never had a gun, but the last few weeks I am thinking that has got to change.”

If someone at your workplace should seem upset that you won’t convert to Islam (seems to be a virus going around this season), you might be well advised to be as ready for self-defense as possible.

I don't suppose Beloit, Wisconsin and South Beloit, Illinois, count, being so different in name and all.

"Suhaib Webb is currently the imam of the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center, which is part of the same entity under the same ownership as the Islamic Society of Boston, where Boston Marathon bombers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev worshipped. … Webb previously served as imam of the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City, where [Oklahoma City beheading suspect Alton] Nolen reportedly worshipped. … Webb recently returned to the Oklahoma City mosque to deliver two sermons in October 2013…."

The day after the beheading, Suhaib Webb… [choose one]

a) started a fund for the family of Nolen's victims.
b) praised the man who saved the 2nd victim's life and stopped the attack.
c) denounced the violent factions of Islam and called for jihad against them.
d) apologized to ISIS for having previously criticized them.

I read as far as "finds out what it's like being related to the most hated free man in America." That's seriously sick, and I wish I hadn't given them the click.

"…just shortly after another Okee Jihadi and Islam convert…"

Okie. It's O-k-i-e. Don't ask me why. It's just spelled that way. Unless you're spelling the town of Okeemah.

Oklahoma does have the death penalty, and knows how to use it. You might recall a recent execution took a bit long with the "merciful" drugs. So, who knows what might happen with this guy? :O

Here's Wikipedia's list of "notable" mosques in Oklahoma. According to another Wikipedia article, "In 2000, there were about 5,000 Jews and 6,000 Muslims, with 10 congregations to each group."

2000 was a long, long time ago.

A quick googling on 3D Danny says that was an OKC thing? My childhood TV was out of Tulsa.

When I poured too much sugar on my corn flakes on Saturday mornings, in the wilds of 50s/60s Oklahoma, we had three networks, one of which didn't come in too well. And too frequently, some fishing or preaching where cartoons ought to go. But, great days.

When my kids were Saturday-morning cartoon age, in the 80s/90s Chicago, their Dad participated. We had two VCRs programmed to tape toons, while we watched something else, sometimes. Still have the collection, locked up on VHS in the catacombs. That era was a bountiful cornucopia compared to my youth.

Already, though, we were disconnecting from broadcast push technology. First by tape-delay. Also, the kids learned that by FF'ing through credits and commercials (at least ones they'd already seen), they could watch almost three half-hour shows in an hour. So, Saturday mornings were still a big thing, but we didn't have to be there on time when the cereal and toy companies demanded it.

Now, broadcast-push technology is dead. I can feel nostalgic and still say, good riddance to the Imperial Network system. I still find cartoons I've never seen on the net, from the earliest days of film to great recent stuff. Everything is out there, and growing. Makes that cornucopia of the 80s/90s seem sparse.

Just call me willow. Thanks, CPT. Charles, for the heads-up.

But who would imagine a morning thread? with <100 comments!

A dozen eyes.
They stare at me as I pass by,
eying me hungrily.
Just because it's feeding time.
Can't they see
I'm busy reading comments?
They don't care.
They continue to stare at me.
Hungrily.

Actually, Monday started yesterday for me. We were heading down to have a family lunch with my mom. Hit the highway, and the car started shimmying, only noticeable over 60mph. Hundred-mile round trip did not seem like a good idea.

Figure repairs will take, oh, at least as much as that "loose change" I was talking about yesterday which I'd fantasized about spending on computer upgrade. 'Tis ever thus.

Saw a great demotivational poster the other day with which I can to readily identify:

Everything happens for a reason.
Sometimes the reason is,
you made really stupid decisions.

Poured a glass of water-and-juice, and sat down at my desk in the dim light of morning to peruse the comments.

Cat jumped in lap. A moment later, other cat jumped in my lap, too. Survived that.

Then I managed casually to turn over my glass, all over the desk. Very tidy, just got papers & things, none went on the floor.

Guess the day of the week!

So…

Morning, glorious children of the almighty Creator!

*blinkoo* *blinkoo*

The first three notes of "Moon River" and the theme from Goldfinger are the same. True Fact.

Never read the anthology book, but liked Steve Goodman's performance of Mike Smith's Spoon River.

freaked: "maybe a nice desktop for the video work. You will get more bang for your buck with a desktop and it will probably last longer. Plus you can get a really big monitor."

Preferably two monitors!

Yeah, thanks, freaked. That is my dream setup / long-term goal, especially since my current desktop is an XP box from the last millennium that chokes on 1080p videos.

Would that my chaotic life were settled and everything was in one spot with a big ol' net pipeline, then what you suggest would be right, but for now, power with portability is an issue. The Asus seems a compromise within in my current limited price range. (And you know compromise, nobody gets what they want. Such has been my long-term "lifestyle.")
