Been nice to have some time to hang out around the garden. I've got one more link for today. Local story.

High School play is tribute to Vietnam and veterans

“It is our greatest hope that the vets in our area will see this play as a tribute to their sacrifice and service,” said Susan Crabtree, Bartlesville High teacher and the play director.

The production is not for the faint of heart, the depictions of war and its effect on all those involved are realistic, graphic and unrelenting. The plot follows six women who served as nurses, a Red Cross volunteer, and a USO entertainer.

Worth a read to the end.

Cap guns? Cap guns are cool. Wonder how many decades Ahhh! !! The secret origin of "Pistol Pete"? I know everyone here is eternally grateful to your daughter and stepdaughter for bringing you to our screens!

Gotta admit, my path into computers started pretty early. One Christmas or birthday, I got a toy that was plastic and metal, and when assembled into a Rube Goldberg-looking thing, did calculations. Ah, wondrous websearch! Here it is!

Digicomp

But my childhood wasn't totally stunted. We had cap guns. Cap guns are cool.

Exactly, Pete, it is entirely about "anti-family,anti-Christian values." Reality is just so obstinate about persisting, but the Regressives are sure they can think and wish (hope & change) their version into fact. There's no such things as boys and girls. Or marriage and family. There's no such thing as values, period, for that matter. At least, not in any sense of good and bad, right and wrong. Just multi-cultural level-playing field. Complete unreality. One defies fact, reality and the Spirit of Truth at one's mortal, and immortal, peril.

Speaking of values and multiculti:

UK Deputy Prime Minister "Nick Clegg has expressed concern that the Government's plans to promote 'British values' in schools could alienate moderate Muslims. The Independent, c/o WZ

On top of everything else wrong with this, I don't think alienating "moderate Muslims" is the real threat….

Computing: It's not for the timid. You say, "It took me a long time and a lot of trial and error to learn how to post graphics in the reply section." No kidding. I've manually coded in so many graphics in eighteen years of my War With HTML. It's still as big a pain as ever.

Howsomever, Wordpress seems to have changed the rules. Look at your posts (one with a pic). See the <start and end> parts of the tag sticking out on either side of the graphic? "Just the URL." I suppose this gives WordPress some better control over how graphics are sized for the page. Even I can post pix here now; I didn't have that power before (that I ever got to work).

I'll try not to abuse the privilege. :)

It's all in your mind.

That Spanish nurse who contracted Ebola? Her boyfriend has been isolated. Her dog has been killed. Not caged and isolated for testing. Killed.

"It's only a dog," right? I suppose some people really do think that way, like whoever abandoned the twenty puppies the moose-hunter found the other day, or whoever dumped on the highway all the dogs we've had. But for Real, Actual Human beings, not just those with mere human DNA but actual souls, the love you feel for your pup can be downright maternal.

Re: Libertarian candidate for U.S. Senate Sean Haugh

At first, I was confusing this with the independent running against the pig castrator and the chicken-hating lawyer, but that's Iowa, right? At least he had a good commercial. This guy's got a lot of videos on YouTube, the sit-and-talk-to-the-camera kind. I only read some descriptions. Not sure an anti-war message will carry many voters this year.

Speaking of my brilliant kompooter skillz, Pete, it looks as if you can leave off the "tag" part of img tags now, and just put in the URL. At least, in comments.

Crews transported a patient exhibiting “signs and symptoms of Ebola” from a Frisco CareNow to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas.

The patient was identified as Sgt. Michael Monning, a deputy who accompanied county health officials Zachary Thompson and Christopher Perkins into the apartment where Thomas Eric Duncan stayed in Dallas.

The deputy was ordered to go inside the unit with officials to get a quarantine order signed. No one who went inside the unit that day wore protective gear.

Then there’s this side of the “War on Terror” which like the War on Drugs is really a War on Some Not Others:

DHS to intensify attacks on freedom oriented citizens

“… a source who, speaking on condition of anonymity, alleges that just after the election a major initiative will be launched against citizens whose values are diametrically opposite to that of Barack Obama and the current Washington elitist leadership in Congress. According to the source, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will greatly intensify its attacks on freedom oriented citizens.”
