FenelonSpoke: Anyway it feels bad. Sorry to blather on.

Appreciated the link to the article about how to talk to Narcissists. Funny how I only became acutely aware of the pervasiveness of Narcissism after the rise of the SCOAMF.

Sympathy, FS, for the boy barking at you. My understanding is his type feels much more strongly, so, harder for them to make those critical social weighings which most of us would use to judge when something is appropriate or not. Beautiful minds, differently wired.

About the only reason I ever laid into one of my sons was sassing his momma badly. I kinda lost it. He was taller & tougher than me by that time, though, so I mostly hurt myself.

Howdy, Hordelings. Just passing through on my way from hither to yawn.

I can see you young folk are getting frisky.

Must be time for this tired old grampaw* to leave the room.

(Never mind what I do after that.)

*One due in August, to my UNMARRIED son and his "friend." (God help us.)

Got a daughter and another son still unhitched. In their 30s. Mates sought, intent: life-time commitment to family. Applicants must be generally conservative but able to put up with some slight tendency toward madness anyway. They are my kids, after all.

The "good" kind of crazy. Fun. Creative. Okay, well, not bunny-boilers, at least.

Goooooood night, Gracies.

I grew up in the Westboro Baptist Church. Here's why I left | Megan Phelps-Roper
Ted Talk
https://youtu.be/bVV2Zk88beY

Been a few days since I watched this, but I liked it because she doesn't dwell on the evils of Westboro as much as assumes them, and then simply states her upbringing in that cult, and her coming to an emancipating enlightenment through honest discussions with others online.

About 9:00 in the 15-minute video, she lists what she learned from these enlightening discussions, and she lists her guidelines for clearer communications, which are simple and should be obvious but are really profound.

Don't assume bad intent.

Ask questions.

Stay calm.

Make the argument.

Discussions tonight reminded me of this. Might be a helpful vid for someone.

Leonard Smalls: Oh my gawd, MWW - That thing in the corner isn't a keg, man. It's 5he barrel!
Wash your mouth out with Valu-Rite STAT!

Ha ha. Yeah, I thought of that. But it's the keg. The barrel is over there, and the hose is... connected... um... over... there.....

This may explain the life-forms wriggling in this cup of beer. :O

Just because Milady brought it to my attention:

It is satisfying to have a ball of pastry in the refrigerator, ready for hurry-up desserts, cocktail snacks, and meat or chicken pies.

Pies are usually served as dessert, but in New England, warm apple pie is sometimes presented at breakfast as a special Sunday-morning treat.

bluebell #270: mww, sounds like I need to dig out my old Joy of Cooking and look for that quote!

Looks like, ummm, 1997 printing, under "Pies & Tarts," under "About Covered Fruit Pies." p869.

Milady has, I think, three copies of Joy of Cooking, the oldest of which has become three volumes, as it were. The quote is not in the old one. There were some changes over the years, and so we can't just chuck the old, worn edition!

For Pi Day, Milady, the reader of the house, ran across something in Joy of Cooking. (Possibly should've gone in the food thread, but, hey, cookbooks are books, right?)

"A hundred years ago, when pies were often eaten at breakfast as well as supper, many American housewives baked a dozen or more fruit pies every week."

For Pi Day, Milady made fresh strawberry-cream cheese pie, and we're enjoying the last two slices this morning.

Roll back the calendar! I'm all-in for this pies-for-breakfast thing!!

Well, okay! That explains your reaction to everything I ever wrote!

Seriously, talk about fooled by deadpan delivery, seems like several times a week I have to tell Milady, "I was yust yoking!"

#PixyPharts

What can be made of a hash like "PukHz"?

I've had comments appear to be posted, then vanish.

Only happens when using the cell (AT&T) to connect.

There are, I surmise, many IPs that Pixy has blocked for one reason or another which are part of the AT&T pool of IPs, and I've just picked up one of those banned IPs.

I turn the phone off (actually just go into "airplane" mode) and back on, which picks up a new IP, and that's usually enough.

I have compiled a long list of such banned AT&T IPs that I've been meaning to send to Pixy to be ignored] re-instated.

(Use WhatIsMyIP.com to test your IP, see if it changes from airplane mode, router reboot, whatever you do.

My life may be so discombobulated that I never get to read books...

...and rarely even get to read the book thread post, much less the comments...

...but there's always time to click on the ugly pants link.

Just how does one become combobulated?

Yeah, I know.... if I can get it to be up long enough to run it.

XP hasn't been getting security patches for a long time

No kidding. Sure do appreciate how long this old box has run, all the brazillian bytes it has processed, but it is 'way past its day.

Then there's the 3T drive which is only accessible by the XP box, and if I don't get all the files on it copied off soon, all that data could be lost.

All I need is a 6G RAID system or two...

GOOD NIGHT, GRACIES!!!
