Gabe: "I will be discontinuing my Top Headlines posts after the election."

Well! Gabe, my fellow native Okie , on the chance you read these comments today, know that for all the knocks you may take, good-natured and otherwise, your bringing these early posts, and your legal perspectives, are appreciated.

Thanks & good fortune.

Before I started reading,
I thought I'd drop a greeting,
to establish my virtual presence
in our early morning meeting.

Morning, Glories!

"This one's for Mindful" D'aww, Pete! :)

Hah! I don't know who came up with the ridiculous USB plug design, but unless you look real closely, it's easy to have 'em upside down. And now we're stuck with it. You'd think the odds would be 50/50 on getting it right, but of course Murphy's Law makes it more like 20/70.

Sam Walton is one of my heroes. Wal-Mart is a great American success story. I well remember the huge banner they used to display, "Everything Made in the U.S.A." With what his heirs have done, I'm sure Sam's spinning corpse could be wired for electrical generation. I did read somewhere that they're doing some movement back to more "Made in the USA" items, but I don't know how they can do that, since Clinton exported all our industries to China. And, boy! The quality of goods, the variety, is terrible compared to the old days.

Still, I don't "hate" Wally Mall. Everyone makes cracks about the weirdos who shop there, but all I see at ours is my neighbors, which, admittedly, includes a lot of weirdos, but nothing you don't see anywhere else, as a rule.

That said, we made the mistake of being there on EBT day, once. Since then, we've been pretty careful to avoid that ugly nightmare. Even the clerks are disgusted by the ravenous horde of freeloaders, if you can get them to talk about it. There they are, working the register hard all day, to check through so many bums! (Not slandering all welfare recipients, just decrying the slackers and bums.)

Thanks, Grunt. Can you also add an "s" to that word that should've been plural, and close that tag I left open, and correct that time I…

Laurie David's Cervix: "An Evening of Influence: Journalism That Matters was the theme of the annual Mother Jones magazine fundraising gala."

Milady and I used to subscribe to lots of magazines, before print died. One of our big regrets I'd getting suckered into being charter subscribers to Mother Jones.

We were even more clueless 'way back then than we are today.

Sorry about that.

Marie Antoinette Bdy.

Years ago, for a birthday gift, the kids bought me a Marie Antoinette "action figure," the action being a pop-off head.

Stringer Davis: "...husbandmen, who take care of animals you know, hate hate hate [DST]."

Really? My neighbor says he just resets the cattle in Spring by twisting their tails clockwise in the Spring, and counter-clockwise in the Fall.

Come to think of it, I've never actually seen him do it.

Fall Back is worse than Spring Forward.

Those digital clocks that can only be set forward? In the Spring, just run it forward an hour. In the fall? Run it forward 23 hours. Tedious. Every. Year.

Good morning, campers!

Hm. Sun is rising on time. Cats & dog demand to be let out on time. All is right with the world.

Welcome back to God's time where the sun is overhead at Noon, of all the radical ideas.

Tonight, you will return to God's time, when the sun is right overhead at Noon. And the clock in my truck will match everybody else's once again.

Effects of rolling back to real time for me?

I will not have to constantly think things like, "6am? Okay, it's really only 5am. Zzzz." Or, driving in the truck, looking at the clock, and adding an hour. I can relax with such mental gymnastics.

My cats wake me up when the sky first starts getting even slightly light in the morning. That won't change.

However, with morning threads (presumably) to be posted an "hour later," I may get back to catching them from the start. So, that's the most important thing.

END DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME FOREVER.

For the children. Also, the whales.

Goooood night, Gracies.

"Students at Ramapo College of New Jersey in Mahwah, New Jersey were told this week that they can prevent rape, in part, based on their facial expressions. … women should watch the way they smile, frown, and blink, among other things. Not doing so will result in increased amounts of rape."

Modern Higher Ed at its finest.

Can you make a facial expression that says, "I'm packing and if you try to make a move on me, I'll blow you away?"
