I think the current term is virtue signaling.

Alberta Oil Peon: ...There is a weak rhyme between the two words in each line, and a stronger rhyme between corresponding words in the two lines.

I guess if I were an English Major, I'd know the name for that.

No, no you wouldn't.

Slapweasel #599: Yeah... "Unique", just like everyone else.

There are those who realize this (individual uniqueness
is not unique) is The Truth, and embrace it. We are all reflections of The One True Source - yay!

There are those who realize this is The Truth and the lack of "specialness" drives them mad. "but... but.. I want to be uniquer than anybody."

(Clue: "uniquer" is oxymoronic.)

The pioneer of madness was Lucifer. Couldn't stand the idea that God might be bigger & better than himself.

Don't sell yourself short.

You're an absolutely cosmically unique personality.

Do you know that every deal of Free Cell is, presumably, winnable?

I had to give it up. I play Yukon instead. About 29-30% winnable.

Slapweasel: Praying for people because the least I can do is get down on my knees and thank God for what I have been given; while asking Grace for those who have shown me Love.

Were there no God, we would be in this glorious world with grateful hearts and no one to thank.

So all night long he was on her and off her and on her and off her.

Back from visiting with daughter. This thread still alive?

BurtTC #77: The dread of many in Europe is less about not having people to man the jobs, it's about not having taxpayers paying into their retirement benefits pool.

Ah, yes.

Funny how it's still a form of having children as old-age insurance, isn't it? Just socialized rather than tribal-familial.

Just emancipate the robots and then they'll have to be paid wages, and those wages can be taxed, right? (Unless, once emancipated, the robots mostly decide to go on welfare. (Imagine how they can game the EBTs!))

[I should probably denounce my raciss self now, shouldn't I?]

BurtTC #52: Mindfulness, as a tool for people who are crazy, is very effective. Mindfulness for preening halfwits is just another spoonful of pablum to ease their discomfort over their meaningless lives.

* ponders *

I'm pretty sure I'm in the former crazy category... but since you mention it, my life is discomfitingly meaningless, so... hmmm.

Something I've never seen put together, but which I'm sure someone somewhere must've already noted:

On the one hand we have these nations where there is concern about not reproducing at replacement levels, thus reducing the available workforce.

On the other hand we have these concerns about increasing automation taking over all positions, thus reducing the available jobs.

Seems t'me that it would be preferable to go with the flow, lower reproduction and automation, than to invite in hordes of uncooperative, unproductive, untrainable, third-world welfare cases.

But, what do I know? I'm not the head of a major European nation or anything...!

Intragalactic Yoko Ono Appreciation Society #13:
Be mindful. Know Yoko. Visualize whirled peas.

Nothing comes as close to making me regret my choice of moniker, two decades ago, as the hipsterish "mindfulness" movement. "Mindful..." I don't think it means what they mean it to mean.

Gooooood morning, world. Cooler, with a little much-needed rain here in NE OK. We interrupt having one Summer day after another so we could sneak in some Spring. (Eying sky for possible tornadoes...)

Argh. Pixy-banned IP block, I guess. Try #2...

Hi, folks. Nice pic today. I actually understood it.

Overcast but pleasant temperatures here in NEOK this morning. Good to see some much-needed rain in the forecast. We've had too many days thick with the smoke of raging grass fires around these parts.

Last week my little sister, and her left-coast adult son, came to Tulsa for a few days. Left-coast son unfortunately brought in some alien flu and was bed-bound most of the visit. After they left, our nonagenarian mother came down with it. Apparently, his brand of alien flu was not covered by her annual flu shot this year.

She's tough. But she's 96. But tough. But 96.

So, a whisper or two of prayer for here would not be unwelcome, if you feel so inclined.

Now, I'm a'gonna roll back and check the morning report.
