Oh, small flying insect drawn to the light of my cell,
you present an evil choice:
Let you live to bug me,
or
Goosh you on the touch-screen, with unpredictable results.

[picks old beer cans off of the buffet, clears space for fresh donuts]
Oh, hai. I was just anticipating the morning crowd rush.
Morning, Glories. Slept late on a cold morning. Still waking up.
Vic really got me there right at the start, with, "Today is Monday, December 01, 2014...."
I mean, who ya gonna believe, trusty Vic or my lying cell's calendar?
Mrs. Ida Lowry: "Ooops. cut and paste nonsense in there. Sorry about the stray sentence. Heh heh."
Whew! I thought it was just me being too dense to make the connection.
24°F, feels like 11! Only going up to 33 today.
Man, I miss those nice 60° days... like yesterday.
NBC news c/o Drudge:
Police came across the strange sight around 8 a.m. in the northern Faryab province, a volatile region ravaged by Taliban violence. When police spotted the white bird - which isn't native to the area and appeared larger than an eagle - walking along a highway, they noticed it had an antenna and decided to shoot it, provincial police chief Maj. Gen. Abdul Nabi Ilham told NBC News on Saturday. The bird then exploded, he said, and "suspicious metal stuff" scattered around.
Fredericks of Hodunk: "...the morning ag report.
Hog futures, corn prices. Milk production. weather reports. You know, important stuff."
That's what these morning threads need, an ag report to accompany the other news and 'features.'
Even though I don't hardly know winter wheat from pork bellies, I like to listen to ag reports on the radio, , for two reasons: the ag reporter has a good, old-fashioned, warm, sonorous voice with rich country accent, and, also, it reminds me that the real world is still out there.
First night sleeping on new bed warmer - electric blanket that goes under not over you. I may never get up. Had to turn it down from 4 to 2 .. turning it up to 11sies must be "broil" setting.
Morning, Glories!
Phone calls at 5:15am are never good. False alarm, sort-of, but now I'm fully awake for the day. Joyous Monday!
Best area in Oklahoma?
I'm prejudiced to the NE, "green country" (slogan pre-dates "eco" green). The Arkansas-Verdigris River and tributaries, cutting through gently rolling hills, and full of anthropogenic lakes. Mostly civilized people, outside of Tulsa.
But there's a bit of everything in the four corners of the state. Except mountains you can ski on, but Colorado and New Mexico are next door. And no ocean. However, the prairie grasses look like ocean waves. ![]()
Valerie Jarrett says, "Yes, We Can!"
run the United States from Iran.
HH: "guessing that's the last time you slept on the roof, eh?"
Indeed, although a couple of summer nights since we moved back to Okla, I've considered it. But then I'd think, wait! We have air conditioning!
Early Cuyler: "Thread needs its sea legs."
Missing its Vic fix.
Summer of 1980 in Oklahoma. Highs above 100°F daily and never got below 80° at night, for over six weeks. We had no air conditioning, but worked in a/c daytime then slept on the roof at night; quite nice, actually. In a survivalist kind of way.
Then we moved to Chicago for the winter with the coldest night ever recorded there.
Any weather after that seems mild.
That post-Thanksgiving torpor
That pumpkin pie malaise
That mashed potato mellowness
That could go on for days!
Morning, Glories!
Winter on the Great Plains. Gulf-like or arctic, depending on which way the wind blows.
freaked: "...stopped running that stupid Red Cross PSA on the radio..."
I like it when the radio ads warn about the horrible winter weather were having... on 65&def; days like yesterday.
I WEAR THE CHAINS I FORGED IN LIFE...
unfortunately, I'm still living.
Howdy, stangests! We all standing in line for the morning thread, or for the bathroom?
I read only as far as, "Michael Brown's death ... indicate something is wrong with criminal justice in America."
Actually, the 'criminal justice' aspects here, the cop's action and the grand jury decision, are the only things that seem right in this whole situation.
