When our kids were young, Gramma (my mom) sent them an electric stoplight toy with built-in siren. Could be set up for game play, or, as a motion detector. Mom knew what she was doing to Milady and me!

Karma, though. She tried to ship it with batteries installed, and as she stood in line at the post office, the sirens went off. She had to unpack and repack the thing there in the post office.

It lasted for about one set of D cells, then 'broke.'

Morning, Glories!

A day without Vic News is like a day without bacon. You can survive it easily enough, but....

FenelonSpoke, belated HBD! Many happy returns.

Who else had a bdy coming up? HBD, as applicable.

Yesterday was also my dad's bdy. He would've been (counts on fingers and toes) 97. He only made it to 50, though. Never really got to know him as an adult.

Has anyone heard details about the fatal shots in Sydney, whether the lawyer lady caught a police bullet? I presume the manager caught it from the a--hole's shotgun. From the beginning, it was hard to imagine a bloodless outcome.

Used to be crickets would drive me nuts. Our crickets-in-the-house hunting has been greatly abetted by having cats. Downside is occasionally picking up leftover cricket legs... or, worse, crickets surviving with only one back leg. I throw those poor guys outside -- as bird food.

Hey, I'm over here in the Central time zone. I'm up an hour ahead off you East coasters, relatively.

BTW, my Rep voted no. The Rep who just got elected to replace Coburn also voted no. None other of this supposedly super-GOP state's reps were on the 'no' list.

My district is doing it's part, anyway. Feels like an embattled island in a raging sea.

I added a patentheticalish aside:

"Softies like Ted 'amnestyman' Cruz notwithstanding."

I meant "Ted 'we tortured' Cruz," supposed to be in reference to Vic's comment, "I am disappointed. Cruz has jumped on the 'we tortured' bandwagon. http://is.gd/ILtp24"

How I leapt from torture to amnesty? The usual: brain has a mind of its own.

Glad I got that cleared up for the public record. Whew!

"Obama… uses Mary and Joseph finding ‘no room at the inn’ as illegal immigration analogy!"

Let's see. As ordered by the government, a couple travels to pay their taxes is just like allowing lawbreakers leaping the national border to invade America. Hm. No, that just does not compute for me.

No surprise, of course. It's all just words to the parrot in chief and his teleprompter writers. Anything that sounds good, regardless of meaning. He knows nothing. He has no values we can understand. Jesus, help us!

Can't help but think, 3rd party = Democrat victory... unless the GOP is heavily vitiated and the 3rd party candidate was so popular as to draw all the disaffected voters from Rep, Dem, and Libertarian. Can't imagine who that could be.

Trying to continue the Constitutionalists' takeover of the GOP, putting up with RINOs until they can be educated or removed, repairing the damaged brand, these will take perseverance. And a belief it can be done. It is being done, too. Softies like Ted "amnestyman" Cruz notwithstanding.

3rd party is dangerous.

Ow. Too early to be thinking that much.

There's no actual young people around who might be traumatized by this video, right? Okay, here's something that stuck to my shoe as I wandered the wwweb. I was completely unfamiliar with it, but it seems to be some sort of Chicago TV tradition or something. I post it with a warning, may melt brain cells.

In a speech at the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony Thursday night, President Obama did not mention Jesus by name but said the meaning of Jesus’s story is embraced by all people “around the world, regardless of how they pray, or whether they pray at all. But while lighting the tree has entered into the 21st century, the story that we remember this season dates back more than 2,000 years…”

Busy week. I've been lurking in the PoliNation garden, but not quite been up to commentin' much.

I want to thank everyone — thanks! — who replied about the kitty Faithful's death on an earlier thread. In the past several months, we've lost old Jack the big guy and fluffy little Faithful the kitten-size gal. We're down to four normal-size short-hairs.

We haven't had only four cats since the first litter of barn cats the kids carried home just about one year after we moved. There was a second litter with three more just a few weeks later, and we never lacked for kitties since then.

Milady and I were with Faithful and I was staring into her eyes when the lights went out — not the first time I've seen that with a cat. So often, we think, if we'd just realized the signs, done something more. I've been meaning to get a picture of Faithful up, but, like I said busy week. Brain still not firing on all cylinders. :D
