Really funny collection, chrissy!

This looks like as apt a place as any for some links I thought some here might appreciate.

"If and when we finally encounter aliens, they probably won’t look like little green men, or spiny insectoids. It’s likely they won’t be biological creatures at all, but rather, advanced robots that outstrip our intelligence in every conceivable way."

This "silly season" article says not many folks conceive of our first encounter being with superior artificial intelligence, but I remember The Day the Earth Stood Still had police robots in charge. Gort wasn't quick, but he was in charge. (The original, not the remake I'd never watch.) In any case, "robots are taking over" seems to be a recurring theme lately. Schedule your time to worry about it accordingly; I know I have: later.

"Fountain Green, in Sanpete County, held its first Christmas light parade. It was in honor of 6-year-old Addie Fausett, who is terminally ill. Doctors have told her parents this will likely be her last Christmas."

Deseret News

"The Crow government wants the world to know the name of its God and has erected a sign along Interstate 90 to declare it. The message, 'Jesus Christ is Lord on the Crow Nation,' is proclaimed on a new, 33-foot illuminated sign in Crow Agency, which shares the image of the tribal seal. It was funded by the tribe."

chrissy: "I’ve heard Oklahoma is beautiful, but what do I know?"

One of my favorite comments about this NE part of the state, "green country," was from an Irish group, coming to the local annual OK Mozart festival. Of the drive up from Tulsa, they said, it really reminded them of the rolling green hills of home.

Grunt: "Oh, you’re not a heathen, Mindful… But that Oklahoma thing…"

Well, I have been informed by some Christians that I'm not a Christian, when I express some quibbles with their Christian Fundamentals. However, I seem to myself a heathen, "informally" speaking, the uncultured or uncivilized person. It's the Wild West upbringing. Muddy barn boots on the white shag carpet. (Don't mind me, I'm just rambling.)

Wild West upbringing … recalls this story:

Dad & my older brother & I took a station-wagon vacation to points East, end destination New York (where we met Mom and our sisters who flew in) for the '64 World's Fair. At some restaurant stop in Pennsylvania, my brother ended up regaling some local kids with a big Oklahoma-style put-on (the stuff you find out in the cow pastures). He told them about how we were moving to New York, how we'd barely escaped the state, fleeing from the burning fort with wild Indians shooting arrows at us, how we'd lost our mom & sisters in the attack. The kids were big-eyed, but some harbored doubts, until he showed them our Oklahoma license plates. Then they were convinced.

:D

As a super-genius level computer technician, I recommend rebooting the computer.

If that doesn't work, shrug, I dunno.

I just read “A French Soldier’s View of US Soldiers in Afghanistan” — thanks for linking to that!

Mike Hammer: "I generally feel sorry for wild animals. Most of us think that they lead idyllic lives, but the truth is they spend a good bit of it hungry, and often wet, cold and frightened The lower they are on the food chain, the worse it gets."

Occurs to me there's lots of humans still pretty much in those conditions... psychologically, if not literally.

Toxoplasmosis - why it's a man's job to clean the kitty poo box.

Just one of so many natural things ready to attack us - it's like Australia everywhere our there! Shelter in place! Don't go outside! (Hm, this reminds me of someone...?)

I was about to open the door to let in my little yellow fuzzy kitty, when I saw that he had brought along a playmate/snack, a good-sized field mouse.

They're playing chase, and catch.

I can sympathize with the little rodent's terror, but that's life and death in the great outdoors, and the Creators have deemed that mice do make the perfect edible cat toys.

Slept late. Feel great. Two consequences of having a grand Christmas feast at the kids' place. Also, in the morning, the after party mess is elsewhere!

That was good.

I apparently have the same problem with too-subtle joke delivery online as I have in meatspace. Need to work on that.

Yeah, I kinda figured Jesus wasn't born on Decemberr 25th... but Santa and Frosty were there, tho. Right?

Pretty sure Rudolf gave up his manger, and moved to the left when the Little Drummer Boy needed room. I think Webworker is having us on.

As an aside, Rebecca from the antique book shop on "Pawn Stars" is now my new girlfriend, assuming Alyson Hannigan's restraining order sticks.

It's all a lie.

Jesus wasn't born in a wooden barn at Midnight, December 25, year 1 AD, with adoring Santa and Frosty.

Sorry if this destroys anybody's faith.

Yep, Santa and Frosty. That's a lie.

And I am sorry you've had a bad Christmas. Christmas is a time for joy. Joy that an Almighty God cared so much about his created beings that he sent his only Son to rescue us.

Have you ever loved anyone that much?

No, I didn't think so. And neither have I. And I can't comprehend it. But I believe it.

olddog in mo: "Everything OK? Praying all is well."

Just my attempt at playing dumb. Thought everyone knew the barn was not a medieval style wooden barn, that Christmas was not supposed to be his birthday, and Santa and Frosty did not attend. Sorry if that was belief spoilers for anyone.

Just finished feasting with our kids. They took care of everything, Milady made a pie, but otherwise we're just enjoying an easy holiday being served us. And I'm having presents shoved at me now. So, no complaints at the moment, see you later.

Merry Christmas, y'all!
