Political Hat: "...Challenging the Horde, it would seem..."

Heh. Not sure the bravest would be up to that challenge!

But, y'know, even here in Oklahoma cattle country, the menfolk market seems to be awful. All my daughter's male friends who aren't gay are punks. Remember that video of the young folk shooting a gun for the first time? Watching that, I said to my daughter, isn't it amazing that they found a guy for this video who looks almost exactly like Pajama Boy? Not amazing, daughter replied. That's the most common type now. *CRINGE!* God help us all.

Of course, finding a woman who's not too cray cray is a challenge as well. But for men, that's nothing new.

What we really need is old-fashioned matchmakers. And attitudes "This isn't about 'love,' honey; it's about raising families and keeping the tribe strong! Now say I do!" [Cue "Do You Love Me?" from Fiddler.]

Book thread. Just in time.

My mother had five kids. All are still alive, as far as we know; middle son, my older brother, has been utterly estranged from us all for many years, though. Prayers welcome on that one. Although four of us five gave mom grandkids, oddly, only estranged son's kids have yet given her great-grandkids.

My wife gave us three kids, our daughter and our fraternal-twin sons. All are still alive, as far as we know. Seriously, all seem to have their health and stay in touch. Married son surprised us by saying he's driving up to visit today, sans spouse.

My daughter was married to a true schizo for exactly one year. Their baby didn't make it past three months in the womb, and is buried out there in the west yard in the mimosa grove. That little one would've been in grade school by now That's as close to being grandparents as we've come. God bless my daughter's broken heart and loving soul. (I'd mention she's not 19 anymore, but she's available, guys, but I'm not sure what moron could handle me as a father in law and vice versa.)

Mothers take it in the heart.

Milady and I stayed up late watching Blues Brothers extended edition. Hadn't intended to watch the whole thing, but there just really isn't a place to stop. What an incomparable and inimitable accomplishment that film was!

For Mother's Day, I'm replacing her digital photo frame which failed. Alas, I couldn't find one on short notice that was as nice as the one she had, so I had to convert all the pictures for different resolution. Did NOT get the kind that plays video and audio files!

I'm glad she is my mother.
I'm glad she's still alive.
Still has her wits and gets around.
Next month she's ninety-five!

Now to go read what ya'll are saying...

Morning, Glories!

Mind if I hang this here? Again?

Hillary-Jeb 2016 - Yeah! That's the ticket!
Some posters for the Uni-Party campaign, webworks from Apr 23 of last year, but sadly more applicable than ever.

I have a dream that one day we will choose a President based on genuine qualifications rather than superficial characteristics.

Nevergiveup: "We named our daughter Ariel in Hebrew and the same month Disney released the Ariel the Mermaid. Pissed the shit out of me and my wife"

Yet other folks name their children like that on purpose.

Several years ago, at a family event, I overheard my nephew say his girlfriend's name was Jasmine. I quickly consulted iMDB and determined that the Aladdin movie had been seventeen years back, so I said, "So, she's 17?" He said, yeah.

His doting mother, my sister, was sitting next to me, and immediately said, "You told me she was 18!" Nephew said no, I never said that.

I suddenly had to be somewhere else.

We have many grand 100-year-old trees here, oaks and pecans.

Yesterday I drove my little red truck around the yard gathering up branches from the storms the other day.

So last night we had a heckuva windstorm.

By the morning light, I see about four times what I picked up lying around in the yard again, not counting all the little clumps of leaves.

Picking the branches up isn't the hard part.

It's gluing them all back on.

Morning, Glories.

bb: "One consequence was that the city of Hamburg experienced an influx of Hungarian refugees in late 1948...."

Um? The post-WW2 Hungarian influence on Brahms, eh?

Nice music, thanks - listening to it now; always liked the Hungarian influence.

Mom's baby brother slogged across Europe, and as a reward was being readied for the invasion of Japan.

Instead, we dropped the Bomb.

Today he is a Great-Great-Grandfather, and I hope to see him at Mom's 95th birthday next month.

A sloppy but heartfelt civvie salute to Uncle Ed, and all those who served and serve.

Enough lurking on ye commenters. Think I'll go get the pick-up and drive around the yard playing pick-up-sticks. Don't start any new memes without me while I'm gone.

I'm not here yet. I'm not here yet. I'm not here yet. I'm not here yet.

I'm still finishing up reading the last thread. I'll be here soon. Just knew you'd want to know.

I could read faster if only there were some way to know whether a comment was worth my time or wasting it before I read it. Acecomments.mu.nu needs like buttons. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Just kidding of course. AoSHQ has nothing but worthy comments. My own and certain hectoring trolls' aside.

Caught up m/l on comments. I see there's no new post yet. (But this one just got expanded!)

Must be time to feed the pests.

Sure are a lot of tree branches all over the yard from the storms, and we didn't even get hit that bad. Pickin' up sticks for fun and mowing but mostly mowing.

Nature is just so danged untidy.

The one being Tom Cotton of Arkansas, Milady told me.

I stand with Tom, in any case.

Always like it when the horde re-hashes things like WW2. Always learn something new.
