Good morning, campers. It's a beautiful, warm, blue-sky day in NE Oklahoma. As usual. Hope y'all have a day.

The Chaos Ensued article - wasn't that boat originally named The Minnow?

I read on some blog called PoliNation that today is a National Day of Prayer. And a little birdie told me it's International Firefighters Day. I figure, celebrate both, right? by praying for all those who rush toward the dangers from which we flee.

When we moved back to our Okla home in '94, we ordered several of those tents from Shelter Systems. They look all hip and geodesical and all, but surprise! they're nice tents. (Unsolicited testimonial!)

Not hard to put up. When you did the flooring right and the inner liner, you had a pretty nice hut with four doors (with screens). Light but sturdy. Windproof.

A smaller one worked well for a bathroom tent.

We had a wet snow punch one down, but we just popped it back out. Usually, snow slid off, or we'd poke it from inside and have it slide off.

We did have an 80+mph breeze one day pick up a tent that wasn't properly staked down. It rolled across the yard, over the low wall, and across the pasture to the fence with the neighbor. Lost one or two support poles, but otherwise was intact. We just rolled it back and nailed it back down.

I glimpsed them in a SF series - Stargate? (Never watched it.) Always funny to see "Hey! There's our tents!"

Put in some rugs, hang some Indian bedspreads for color, thick futons, electric -- they could've had a nice, luxurious little camp there for not too much. We did.

...

Picture me, on the ol' 386 laptop, calling CompuServe, via modem, using hardwire phone line strung across the lawn from the tent to the house we were rehabbing ("Wait! Don't mow there until I get the phone line picked up!!"), with flaky rural phone service. Can you say 300 baud? I know you can.

More #TheBeatles

The Beatles never said they were bigger than God, or whatever people thought and the media misreported. John had disdained fandom by noting how, among modern pop audiences, the Beatles were more popular than Jesus. He wasn't saying it was a good thing. And John really mangled the later "apology/explanation." Too little too late to stop the tide of fervent religious indignation. For that ill-stated truth, preachers led album-burnings. Oh, those valuable, precious LPs!!

Poor ol' John was a sad seeker of truth. He tried on lots of isms, none fit him well. He did not Jimi-Janis-Jim himself to death, despite giving it a good try; I credit him for his recovery. His best achievement was sobering up and hanging up his guitar and holing up at home to raise his (latter) kid.

What John never found was a solid personal theology. That's a tragedy, but, in that way, he represents a whole generation - or five - of folks, so many of whom didn't find soul satisfaction in old systems, and were seeking something they knew not what, and as such often falling into the clutches of pilgrim-robbers.

If John had lived and found Jesus...

...would he still let Yoko sing on the albums?

I'll submit to Ace, if he wants to post it, my thesis, "Imagine: Misinterpreted by Everybody Except Me".

Insomniac: "Maxwell's Silver Hammer"

Ah, yes, top of the list of Beatles songs I could go the rest of my life never hearing or thinking about again.

I get but do not like quirky dark British humour.

And as for

#TheBeatles

As decades have gone by, most of their stuff has held up pretty well, in my inarguable opinion.

Some I always hated ("Run for your Life" - great tune, but, abusive possessive lover theme).

Some were funny, but I wouldn't put them in the regular-listening playlists - you know, Octopus, Submarine, Act Naturally. (I think those are all Ringo. Class-A band drummer, but, um...)

Most of Paul's songs ("gramma music" someone said - heh) have aged less well. I just keep seeing his ginormous face on the big screen in the Let It Be movie. "Hey Jooooood..." What?

And that fat guy at Woodstock forever ruined A Little Help From My Friends for me.

Their "beatnik" releases had lots of great stuff (Rubber Soul/Revolver). There's obscure but great rockers like Hey Bulldog.

I still find She Loves You powerful, yeah yeah yeahs and all. Maybe You Had To Be There at the right age. Like Star Wars, which I wasn't.

What's most amazing is the genres they spanned.

It was all part of the times, too. They had fun. They grew and changed. We had fun growing up, changing, listening to them. (While lauging at the maniacs. Whut?)

ish

#StarWars

Saw the first one in theaters. Amused by the super-modern-sfx applied to a cheesy old movie serial story. Amused that it picks up mid-story (ch IV)

Rented the next two from Blockbuster. Blockbuster. Hahahaha. Rented. VHS. Please Rewind. Hahhahaa.

Never really been tempted to see any of the rest.

Last night, we watched the Princess Leia's Stolen Death Star Plans first and second cuts. Yeah, clever adaptation of Sgt Pepper's -- maybe I'd be more appreciative if I cared about SW.

I see some commenters complained that the dragon seems smaller than its reputation.

You silly Morons. The dragon just looks small because "This work is tiny; about the size of a piece of letter paper."

See?

As for sitting or stepping on pets, they don't even have to be camouflaged. This morning, Milady got up to get her coffee out of the microwave, and just as she's sitting back down, black cat jumps on her chair. Everyone survived, barely, and no coffee hit her computer.

Our theory of interior decoration for pets is, cover everything with cloth. Replace & wash regularly. :D

Strangely enough, I don't seem to have any interest in the election post-mortems regarding Hillary - or anything to do with the Clintons, actually. Same goes for ol' flyface.

Nevertheless, here's a few of my old videos on Hillz - might as well plug them here now, since anything regarding she who will never be President of the United States is so quickly becoming yesterday's birdcage liner.

Computer problems have terminated my webworking, so no making videos nor much of anything else. If I live long enough, and the Lord is willing, maybe I can get back in the game, but meantime, at least I can still read PoliNation!

Our black cat seeks black surfaces to lie on, like the insulated tote bag that's all black. All you can see sometimes are those yellow eyes. Which is a strange thing to see on a tote bag.

The yellow kitty, OTOH, likes it when we have the yellow bedspread on the bed. Not quite invisible, but they are almost the same color.

Great collection of pix, as ever, bob. ♥

I wonder why they never run articles about old Nazis getting together to reminisce about the good old days and sing the Horst Wessel song and such?
