I'm just gonna read the post and retire. Y'all make up whatever I would've said in comments for me, okay.

Wait.. wait.. that's a terrible idea. Never mind.

Nighty night, nightcrawlers.

Joy Behar's saying she'd vote for a rapist as long as they're liberal?

As some commenter on Ace said this morning, you already did, honey - twice.

Is it going off-topic if Ace opened with it before he went o/t?

Cicero: I call bullshit on a North Korean "H bomb".

You and the War News Updates editor:
http://bit.ly/1OMPXKW

I am sceptical [sic] that this was a Hydrogen bomb test. I was told a long time ago that only a few people in the world (about 300) understood the physics and engineering required to assemble a Hydrogen bomb. This is in contrast to assembling an atomic bomb, where there are literally thousands who understand what is necessary to put together such a device .... but are limited by not having the nuclear material to put it together. Does North Korea have the expert(s) to build a Hydrogen bomb .... I doubt it .... and I will not be surprised if in the next few days nuclear experts will be assessing this test in the low kiloton-age range, while also saying that this was not a Hydrogen bomb test.

rickb223: On the bright side, you have enough shit to fertilize the pear trees for a year.

Heh.

Kind of a mixed blessing when loads of shit is the bright side.

Since I didn't click on any headlines yesterday, today I decided to click through on all of them.

• Refuge problem: that was too short to have bothered. Kept thinking maybe there was more I was missing, but I didn't find it.

• Hidden Message: PJ Media apparently requires javascript to read an article. I saw a blank page. Won't be clicking on their site anymore.

• Establishment Rubio: Nat'l Review, ditto for PJ Media. It's one thing to require javascript for some things, but for any content at all? F' em.

• Fact Checkers: Seems to be mostly tweets of people disparaging fact checkers rather than what was wrong. I might be missing something. Tweets don't fully flesh out without javascript.

• Cologne Mayor: My suggested code of conduct for women in muslimoid-infested areas is concealed carry and lots of training.

• Nork H-Bomb: Bad link. But, yeah, read about it last night.

• Minnesota's Sunday Game: Okay, didn't actually click. Already read about it, though.

• One Paycheck Away: Well, knew about this also already, so didn't click.

• Apple: Don't care. Didn't click.

Well, I tried, BenK, I really tried.

Did Vic post news this morning? Gonna go check. BBL.

Aww, looks like I missed the morning thread.

Well, happy Twelve Drummers Drumming Day, the final day of Christmas, which spirit we will keep all year 'round nonetheless...

...especially as I now have a houseful of drummers, pipers, leaping lords, dancing ladies, milkmaids, a barn full of dairy cattle, a yard full of various fowl, and a dozen pear trees.

My true love is eccentric, to say the least.

Before the Star Wars discussion merges with the card puzzle discussion in a conflagration of meme-crossing, I'm going to wave goodbye.

Mama June Gets a Lap Dance From a Little Stripper

I could've lived the rest of my life without seeing that. Or knowing who or what Mama June is... which I still basically don't. Thanks, Maet... not.

Had to click through... to make sure that was a "little person," not a child.

Thanks for posting the Stump for Trump girls video, Pete. As with Trump himself, I may not necessarily agree with them, but I really like their style, and never miss one of their videos. (Well, the short ones; their longer compilations I skip.)

None of this morning's headlines induced me to click. Almost went to columnist confessions, but saw it was NY Times, so didn't. It's not you, BenK. It's me. Or maybe it's that guy over there. Yeah, it's him.

Gonna go feed the pesks and then check my newsfeeds. BBL

In Trump's Face the Nation interview
https://youtu.be/QrbE-2M-aNE
he reiterated his intent to not just build the wall but make Mexico pay for it. The interviewer smirked, but Trump came back dead serious.

Funny guy. When he talks about it, I just keep picturing the Pres of Mexico handing him a too-generous check in that SNL sketch.

Carol: ...Heat is coming up & making a lot of noise.

Heh. Down here in young Oklahoma, all I've ever known was modern gas forced-air central heat (steadily droning at the moment), but that decade and a half we spent in our 100-year-old Chicago apartment building, we had the boiler and steam radiators. Hissing and sometimes knocking were actually comforting sounds on those freezing Windy City winter nights.

FenelonSpoke, no suggestions, but prayers for relief for you. And peace for your son in this regard.

Y'know...

I was raised to think of prayer as something one did for better subjective communion with God and adjustment to God's will, rather than to effect any big changes in the "outside world."

Always seems like people get the answer to prayer and thank God, or don't get the answer they'd hoped for, and, if they're wise, still thank God.* Not a good indicator of whether prayer really had any outside-world effect. Folks will believe what they want.

The Bible Belt community around me of course believed in the power of prayer to induce God to do miracles. Oral Roberts made the lame walk every week on teevee. I never discounted power-miracles, but ... they were always something that "happened to someone else."

Still, I don't think I know anything, much less how the Spirit works in the world, so, I join in prayers-at-a-distance and all that ... can't hurt, right? I rarely ask for them, though, because of aforementioned upbringing. And the long, long list of what I'd ask prayers for....!

* Some idle musing on praying & thankfulness I did a while back: Be Sure to Say Thank You
