qdpsteve, 'way back up there somewhere: if you could own for free, one pristine/perfect/new model of ANY car EVER manufactured, which would you take?

Without giving his any serious thought, it occured to me (hardly for the first time) that I should never have sold my first car, 1968 Mustang. Saw some kids in one just like it a few years back, stopped 'em and asked, yep, 1968.

I probably wouldn't've taken good enough care of it. But if I had one pristene, new, well...

Hello and good night, folks. Sweet dreams of funny movies and good bass lines.

Late to the dead thread's deadly dog talk, and I've mentioned this before, but here goes anyway.

Our good friend Bob lives on the ranch here and rents the pasture where he and his family run cattle. (Me, I'm all hat and no cattle.)

Next door (1/8 mile away) there was a rental mobile home on an acre. Tenant neighbor was watching a pit bull for a friend.

Pit bull got out and went for one of Bob's cattle. When the neighbor caught up with the dog, he was glommed on to a cow's face. Shot his friend's dog on the spot.

Then he came up to our place and talked to Bob, told him what happened, and said he'd pay for any cost of damage done to the cow.

Sorry for his friend, and the friend's dog, too, but that's country life. That was a good neighbor.

Going-off-topic rule should vary by topic.

Extreme ranges:

I see BeckoningChasm beat me to the PShop comment. Should've looked before leaping.

Alas for the amusement value, that's photoshopped. Notice the hand-lettering, "rapists" and "racists" are exactly the same - cut and pasted - except one letter.

grammie winger: Is it wrong to drink two pots of coffee all by yourself?...

Um... are we talking about a full 12-cup pot here?

FenelonSpoke: ...preferable to putting, "You are full of ______ and I hope you DIAF" for every post :^)

How about just "you are full of poo and I hope you get mildly burned by the skillet cooking a Greek omelet"?

Morning, FenelonSpoke. How did you resolve the boy's chemistry (wasn't it?) complaint crisis?

Also, thought you might appreciate Dr Piper's latest, ICYMI.

MTF: ...watched The Martian last night.

Milady and I watched the first episode of "My Favorite Martian" last night. No Matt Damon. And Bixby never turned green.

Fun to see first episodes, before a series devolves into repetitious rut.

Chi: I'm trying to figure out how to work the word 'poo' into your and everybody else's name. Which will my goal for the rest of the day...

Some days, serious comments I post elicit no response at all.

Then one idle comment and there's cascades of poo.

Now that I'm actually up and look at what I posted on the cell earlier... how the heck did "poo" get in my sig? That's awful.

Morning, Glories!

I don't want to get up
I was up late last night
Anyway looks like
No Vic in sight

Still dark outside
The pets haven't stirred
I've nothing worth saying
And life is absurd

I can't be a poet
Despite rhyming lines
I just grew up reading
Those Burma Shave signs

At the risk of rousing more rabble, here's a roughly-related video I thought some here might appreciate.

I think a few of Dr Piper's statements about Trump are less than entirely accurate, but those are minor compared to his overall point. He expressed quite clearly the reasons why he felt Trump was not a suitable speaker by his college's standards.

In your rant, I find next to nothing directly related to do with what he wrote or his purpose in writing, only inexplicable scattergun spittle and fuming at him, and for no reason I can understand.

I almost didn't reply because your (as it seems to me) inscrutable emotional intensity might likely just gun for me in turn, but I just couldn't let this one sit there unanswered - as I have so many other things you've commented on PoliNation.

Another thread just to break things up, I guess.

I only got up to the Easy Dog Diaries entry on the previous one. Was there anything after that worth reading? (Besides my own glorious comments, I mean.)

GnuBreed: To repeat my ONT news, Paul Kantner of Jefferson Airplane has died, age 74. RIP Paul.

Your ONT news? Your ONT news? I was in first with it at #18. You didn't get in 'til #507.

Morning, Glories! In before whatever comes next!

• S'posed to get up into the 70s today. With possibly snow on Tuesday. Ah, Oklahoma.

• 357 days until the new President would have been sworn in if Obama hadn't phoned-and-penned away the elections.

• And Vic, I see, is AWOL again. Can't trust that guy. It was probably all bad news, anyway.

• The Political Hat: What is Cultural Marxism?

By coincidence, when I woke up, I was thinking about the phrase "the inmates are running the asylum."

Getting weird electrical surges here at rural casa mindful. Lamps keep going brighter for a moment, then dim again. I'm used to occasional browning-outs, but a surge is rare.

Even though I've got surge protection and the laptop is not directly on AC, I think I'll clock out.

Nitey night. Sleep tight. Don't let the trump bugs bite.

Jefferson Airplane - Best of JA was not really Kantner, I suppose, but he did launch 'em. I can still listen to After Bathing at Baxter's and Bless Its Pointy Little Head, and several fine cuts from Surrealistic Pillow.

Uncle Palpatine: ...Not that "mindfulness" crap, of course...

No relation.

Misanthrope: This is why I no longer associate with Christians. They are fucking retards.

Wow. I've rarely seen a brush that broad. (Oh, I see chique already said that)

Well, nevertheless: Dr Piper of OK Wesleyan U, after the popularization of his "this is not a daycare" article, has been asked if he would invite Trump to speak a la Falwell Jr. His reasons why not are moraly, but hardly knee-jerk Christian.
