A police officer from Euless, Texas, was shot and killed on Tuesday while responding to a shot-fired call. He and another officer were ambushed by the suspect. The second officer was able to return fire, striking the suspect.

Police Officer David Hofer, 29, was killed by a man who had just burglarized a home and had stolen several guns. The [meth-head] suspect apparently fired several shots in the air and then hid in a ditch located in a park while he waited for police to arrive.…

Hofer had moved to Texas with his girlfriend, Danylyk, because he felt it would be safer than being an NYPD cop.…

Anonymous Nigerian soldiers have told media outlets that a group of Boko Haram terrorists and their hostages, numbering 76 people, have surrendered to the military in northeast Borno state. The terrorists surfaced from the forests in which they were hiding “begging for food…” occurred in the town of Gwoza, previously the scene of a Boko Haram massacre… terrorists allegedly told soldiers that there were many like themselves hiding in Borno state’s Sambisa forest, home base for the Islamic State-affiliated terror organization, hoping to surrender in exchange for being fed.…

Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts rejected a plea Thursday to block a contentious air pollution rule for power plants in a big victory for the Obama administration.

Roberts’s order came despite his court’s 5-4 decision last year ruling that the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) regulation, known as the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards, is illegal…

In other news, Jesse Matthew Jr. pleaded guilty today to the murder of two co-eds in Charlottesville, Virginia. He received four life sentences, in addition to the three he is currently serving for a rape committed in Northern Virginia.…

As French police began demolishing the migrant shantytown known as “The Jungle” near Calais, residents of the camp began torching their shanties to protest the demolition. Meanwhile, 7,000 desperate migrants have backed up on the border between Greece and Macedonia. Conditions along the border are worsening, with shortages of food and water, and deteriorating sanitation.

In other news, “Super Tuesday” primaries have brought additional victories to the front-runners, Hillary Clinton for the Democrats, and Donald Trump for the Republicans. Mr. Trump looks to have won all the states except for Oklahoma and Texas (which went to Ted Cruz) and Minnesota (which went to Marco Rubio). …
