JULY COMES FORTH
SNEAKING ON MOSQUITO FEET
BUT ILLUMINATED
BY FIREFLIES

July is

National Ice Cream Month
National Hot Dog Month
National Baked Beans Month

It's a picnic!

Where it all comes together:

National Chili Dog Day July 25th (USA)

Or, if you prefer the great indoors:
July 3rd to August 15th, inexplicably, are officially known as the
Air Conditioning Appreciation Days

Went searching for a Julia to close out this post. Lots of Julia celebrities (some I even recognized). This one caught my eye, though:

Julia Adasheva
and her Ferrari

Julia Adasheva with Ferrari

Adasheva (that's a sexy name if ever we heard one) is the definition of a gorgeous Russian model. Born in Moscow in 1991, she now travels the world as part of her modeling career which started at the age of 16. The beauty is 23 years old, born on April 25, 1991, wears size 7.5 (38 shoes) and is dress size 6 (36).

Her dream car is a red convertible from Maranello. No, not a California like Paris Hilton has, but a 458 Spider, the epitome of Italia style and performance. Julia is seriously into cars and frequents tuning shows. Her personal Youtube is filled with videos of her testing out various exotics around Moscow.…

Doughy Dilemma

But can you make it with cornbread?

In response to which I posted this lamerick:

Chili in a bread bowl looks pretty good.
Asked if I want some, I'd say, yes, I would.
But a very big must
Is a very hard crust
Lest it's soggy 'ere your meal can conclude.

June 2019

Why "June"?

The Latin name for June is JuniusOvid offers multiple etymologies for the name in the Fasti, a poem about the Roman calendar. The first is that the month is named after the Roman goddess Juno, the goddess of marriage and the wife of the supreme deity Jupiter; the second is that the name comes from the Latin word iuniores, meaning "younger ones", as opposed to maiores ("elders") for which the preceding month May (Maius) may be named.[4] Another source claims June is named after Lucius Junius Brutus, founder of the roman Republic and ancestor of the Roman gens Junia [5]

I'm gonna go with Juno, Roman goddess, over young people.

FATHER'S DAY IS JUNE 16
Dad, son, bike

I looked through a lot of Father images. This one struck me. First, because I vividly remember chasing along holding bikes for each of our three when they were little. Second, because it's symbolic of how Fathers must be sometimes: you push and push and push, you encourage and encourage and encourage, and then, suddenly, you have to just let go…

June Haver

June Haver was born on June 10, 1926, in Rock Island, Illinois… appeared on the stage for the first time at the age of six in a local theater production… In 1942, at the age of 16, June joined Fox Studios as a fringe actress. Dropped because the studio thought she was too young, they signed her the following year to appear in The Gang's All Here (1943). … In 1945, she appeared in Where Do We Go from Here? (1945) with her future husband, Fred MacMurray, who she wed in 1954. … After they were wed, the couple adopted twin girls. June's last foray into the glare of the camera lights was when she played herself in the television production of The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour(1957). She died of respiratory failure in Brentwood, California on July 6, 2005. —iMDB

"Pi Day is an annual celebration of the mathematical constant π (pi). Pi Day is observed on March 14 (3/14 in the month/day format) since 3, 1, and 4 are the first three significant digits of π. In 2009, the United States House of Representatives supported the designation of Pi Day." —Wikipedia: Pi Day

The Art of

Guess What This Is

Hint #1: It's All Natural

This picture was sent to my cell from a number I didn't recognize:

Looks like cabbage?

Can you guess what it is?

Toasted coconut run through a food processor and layered with phyllo dough, nuts, and honey, ready to bake after adding a fruit filling in the center?

A cunning navigational instrument found on an ancient sunken Greek ship, covered in seaweed?

Hint #2: I figured out the picture had been sent to me by our auto mechanic.

I had taken the truck in because of a horrendous noise in the blower for the heat/AC.

The picture is that blower, infested.

The truck had been parked for several days. Some pack rats apparently had decided the blower for the heat/AC was a great winter nesting place.

Ran much quieter once that stuff was removed.

Our cats have been alerted to guard the truck henceforth.
